Job Description:
The candidate will develop innovative biotechnology methods to control invasive plant species during drought, floods, and other climate-induced stresses. This work will involve independent literature searches on how invasive plant species respond to climate stresses and apply both molecular biology and computational tools to design the new control methods.
Duties Include:
30% Growth assays of invasive plants.
30% Development of biocontrol methods.
20% Conduct genomic and transcriptomic analyses.
20% Write manuscripts.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Biology, bioengineering, genetic engineering, plant genetics, genomics, virology, ecology, or a related field.
The candidate is expected to possess hands-on experience with at least some (if not all) of the following laboratory skills: molecular cloning, plasmid construction, DNA sequencing, quantitative RT-PCR, RNA interference (RNAi)-based gene knockdown, and bioinformatics.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD with virus-induced gene silencing (preferred but not required).
Required Job Competencies:
Proficient in Basic molecular biology methods.
Advanced in Plant growth methods in lab and greenhouse.
Beginner with Conducting genomic and transcriptomic analyses
