Job description

Location: Sheffield Office / Remote Working

Hours: 18.75 hours a week

Salary: Starting salary £23,000 pro rata

Are you an experienced and driven primary school teacher who would love a role that will enable you to work with some of the biggest, most recognisable brands, authors and charities in the world? Are you passionate about making a positive impact in education, thinking outside the box and helping to come up with brand-new ideas that will be used all over the world all the while doing something a little bit different? If you have answered yes to any of these, you’ve found your dream role.

As a Strategic Partnerships Content Editor, you will be enabling teachers to bring some of the best-loved children’s characters from books, films & TV into the classroom in a fun, innovative and exciting way, including Harry Potter, PAW Patrol, Super Mario Bros. and Spider-Man. You’ll also be working with charities, such as WWF, Comic Relief and BBC Children in Need, helping develop their fundraising projects in schools and supporting their campaigns.

Your role will involve editing brand-new partnership content across a broad range of subjects and with a huge range of partners. Your knowledge of the National Curriculum paired with your exceptional SPaG knowledge will ensure that the resources we’re producing as a team will make a huge impact in classrooms across the country and your understanding of the needs of teachers will help guide the content we create with our many partners. You’ll not only be involved in resource creation but will also be able to lend your knowledge to support other pieces of work such as press releases and scripts.

You’ll be joining a passionate team of talented people, including Writers, Graphic Designers, other Editors and Illustrators, working to edit Twinkl’s exciting collection of teaching resources created in collaboration with lots of exciting, brands publishers and organisations.

What You’ll Learn…

● how to check content and provide sensitive and constructive feedback for our writers and designers;

● how to work in an ‘agile’ team, allowing you to solve problems and change tasks quickly to meet deadlines;

● how to create new resources, from ideation stage to publication;

● how to use project tracking software as well as other in-house systems;

● how to edit specific resources and social and marketing assets that reflect both Twinkl and partner styles.


We're looking for someone who can:

  • Contribute creative, engaging, age-appropriate and evidence-based ideas to partner resource proposals, playing a pivotal role in both driving forward partner relations and onboarding new partners;
  • Strategic Partnerships can involve last-minute requests and out-of-the-blue changes. You will need to be prepared to help find solutions to blockers on resources at any stage;
  • Work with the Strategic Partnerships team to complete projects for set deadlines;
  • Help produce high-quality, accurate and relevant content, which meets partner-specific requirements;
  • Acts on partner feedback and initiates communication with the production team regarding the relevant action to be taken;
  • Be engaged and innovative, helping generate ideas to make projects as exciting as possible;
  • Be able to effectively balance your workload to make sure that projects get out on time;
  • Be available during some of our core hours (9.30 am - 2 pm) Mon-Fri.

Requirements

Core Skills:
  • Demonstrates excellent SPaG knowledge and a keen eye for detail;
  • Has a detailed and up-to-date knowledge of the Key Stages 1 and 2 National Curriculum in England;
  • Has excellent pedagogical knowledge and can offer suggestions that improve the ‘teachability’ of a resource;
  • Prepared to undertake thorough fact-checking and refer closely to partner-specific requirements and styles as well as Twinkl style when editing resources.
  • Prepared to confidently work between different IT platforms, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and GSuite (Docs, Slides etc.)
  • Ability to give effective constructive and supportive feedback to Writers and Designers;
Beneficial but not essential:
  • Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework.
  • An English degree or specialism (e.g. English subject coordinator responsibility).
Soft Skills:
  • Is a fantastic communicator who thrives when working in a close-knit team;
  • Is organised, able to work to deadlines, and manages time effectively;
  • Has a hard work ethic, is passionate, driven and loves what they do;
