Your missions

Position Summary

Join Vibrant’s CXO & Head of Brand and VP of Development to build a best-in-class Development unit that raises the funds necessary to ensure everyone in our country has access to mental health services and support, especially during crisis. The primary function of the AVP of Development leadership role is to manage a portfolio of major and principal gifts donors and prospects, and will ultimately oversee a growing major gifts program. The AVP of Development is an exceptional fundraiser, communicator, writer, and project manager who is poised to lead and contribute to a growing individual giving team. The AVP will have experience in management and developing teams, and can work effectively across units at a large, national organization.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • The AVP of Development is responsible for raising their annual fundraising goal by increasing and diversifying revenue from major donors, family foundations, ultra-high-net-worth individuals, and other revenue opportunities including volunteer sponsorships and events
  • Manage a portfolio of major donors and partners, including developing and implementing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and will work across teams to build the donor base at all giving levels.
  • They will work closely with senior leadership and members of the Board of Directors to steward current major donor relationships, nurture high-capacity donors to significantly increase their gifts, and engage new prospects and new audiences
  • Develop sophisticated strategies for donors and prospects, create briefings, proposal materials, compelling communications, and briefing and debriefing materials for face-to-face meetings
  • Develop new, and participate in, current donor engagement initiatives to engage, cultivate, and increase giving throughout all gift levels
  • Work with the broader development team to develop and execute team strategies to achieve annual departmental goals and the Strategic Plan goals
  • Build strong relationships with the programs team to acquire the information needed to understand priorities and funding needs and develop compelling proposals and reports for funders
  • Work with Operations staff to ensure we have the systems and protocols to effectively manage donor engagement
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of proposals, reports and required materials. All donor activity will be recorded in Salesforce CRM
  • Prepare regular reports on performance, including revenue, expenses, and return on investment, and provide updates to senior leadership;
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards, legal regulations, and industry best practices in fundraising and donor stewardship;

Required Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of Development experience and a successful track record of personally identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors and high net-worth individuals in a very fast-paced, mission-driven environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate and elevate Vibrant’s vision, mission, goals, and needs to diverse audiences and inspire engagement in becoming donors, sponsors, volunteers, and partners; increase donor loyalty and engagement
  • Principled, ethical, professional, and committed to exceptional work quality and standards
  • Highly organized, creative, proactive, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize with superior time management and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to meet short deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced, professionally rigorous environment
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills and demonstrated ability to articulate complex ideas clearly, accurately, and concisely
  • Ability to travel required
