Responsibilities:
Responsible for underwriting complex new/renewal business accounts at a profitable level and managing the relationships involved to ensure the alignment with overall company goals. Fully knowledgeable on all aspects of Management Liability risk evaluation for in force and new business underwriting and implementation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for determining acceptability of insurance risks and appropriate premium rates for Management Liability new business & renewals in accordance with underwriting guidelines and authority limits.
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to develop pricing, negotiate terms & conditions, and accomplish goals.
- Independently provides detailed explanations to sales regarding conditions and requirements of quotes, rating decisions and underwriting guidelines.
- Analyzes Management Liability claims experience; combines with underwriting guidelines & strategy in accordance with credibility factors to determine appropriate rate levels for new business and renewal accounts using thorough judgement and thought process.
- Develops and communicates new business and/or renewal rate recommendations and decisions in accordance with level of underwriting authority.
- Processes sold accounts and/or confirmed renewals following established procedures.
- Manages new business and/or renewal accounts to balance profitability and growth.
- Monitors performance of assigned book of business and initiates actions to improve performance when needed.
- Develops and maintains relationships with clients, producers, and sales representatives to support Company’s production goals and persistency.
- Provides competitive feedback on rates, products, pricing and marketing strategies.
- Makes presentations to peers, producers, and leadership as necessary.
- Performs lead underwriter functions for all underwriters including providing assistance and training development as needed.
- Provides recommendations on complex cases for lower level underwriters.
- Collaborates with the Director & Vice President on special projects.

Qualifications:
Education / Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 5+ years of related Management Liability (D&O, EPL, Fid, & Crime) underwriting experience.
Specialized Knowledge/Beneficial Skills and Experience:
- Professional certifications (RPLU, MLIS, etc) beneficial.
- Proficient with Management Liability industry concepts, practices and procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Excellent written & verbal communication as well as presentation skills.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to pay attention to details.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
