Job description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Penetration Testing Intern to join our team. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience with real-world penetration testing engagements, collaborate with industry professionals, and develop a strong foundation in offensive security practices.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in performing penetration tests on web applications, networks, APIs, and cloud environments.
  • Support the team in identifying and documenting vulnerabilities.
  • Research and simulate emerging threats to improve testing methodologies.
  • Analyze security tools and frameworks for vulnerability detection.
  • Contribute to the creation of detailed reports with findings, impact assessments, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the team to enhance testing scripts and automate processes.

Baseline Skills Required

  • Foundational Knowledge of Cybersecurity: Familiarity with concepts such as OWASP Top 10, vulnerability scanning, and basic attack vectors.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Basic understanding of networks, protocols, and web applications.
    • Familiarity with operating systems (Linux, Windows) and command-line tools.
    • Experience with at least one programming/scripting language (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Familiarity with Security Tools: Exposure to tools like Burp Suite, Nessus, Nmap, or Metasploit.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to think critically and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to document findings clearly.

Preferred Skills (Optional but advantageous)

  • Experience with penetration testing frameworks or methodologies (e.g., PTES, NIST).
  • Familiarity with cloud security concepts (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices.
  • Certifications such as OSCP, CEH, or equivalent.
