Job description

About Us:
Vetted is redefining veterinary care with a focus on innovative clinic models and exceptional primary care for our patients. We’re a collaborative, mission-driven team passionate about supporting pet health and empowering pet owners. We’re looking for a Head of Operations to join our team, lead our field teams, increase revenue per location, maximize efficiency, and ensure that the Vetted experience is being operationalized.

Role Summary:

As the Head of Operations, you’ll develop and execute our daily operational processes and teams. Working directly with the CEO & COS & SVP of Marketing while collaborating across all team members at Vetted, you’ll oversee and execute new de novo clinic openings, streamline processes, and empower your field teams to ensure profitability and high standards of primary care.

You’ll be instrumental in creating an efficient, scalable model while building strong relationships with key partners. This role is ideal for a hands-on player, who can prioritize the most crucial aspects of the business, while empowering your team to work in a self-sufficient way. We truly believe in teaching someone how to fish, rather than fishing for them.

In addition, we are looking for a candidate that has a proven track record in the veterinary field, that is willing to get their hands dirty (i.e. go to vet clinics, meet teams in person, motivate and guide them to hit performance targets, scout new local partners etc.), has a growth mindset (is not afraid of failure and is looking to fail fast to get to success), who performs excellently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Travel & Hands-On Engagement
    • Travel to clinic locations as needed (30-40%) to support teams on the ground, ensuring consistent standards and developing strong relationships with clinic partners.
  • Sales & Revenue Growth
    • Drive initiatives to increase clinic revenue, aligning operational processes with sales objectives and supporting the CEO in meeting revenue goals.
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead and mentor a team of 3-5 individuals, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment where their team has the skillset needed to operate each clinic successfully
    • Recruit, onboard, and train veterinary and support staff to maintain high standards of care and client service
  • Operational Strategy & Profitability
    • Partner closely with Marketing to ensure growth and profitability
    • Develop and implement staffing and inventory strategies to maximize clinic revenue and profitability
    • Analyze clinic performance metrics, optimizing resources to meet financial targets and improve efficiency
  • Clinic Expansion & Launches
    • Plan and execute the launch of new clinics, managing logistics and timelines to ensure smooth openings across various cities.
    • Identify and address location-specific challenges, securing necessary permits and coordinating with local partners.
    • Grow new and existing clinics in the community to drive new clients
  • Product & Service Rollouts
    • Lead the rollout of new products and services in clinics, collaborating with marketing and clinical teams to ensure alignment with brand standards and client needs.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Work closely with the senior leadership, marketing, and finance teams to support the company’s strategic objectives and growth goals.
    • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, ensuring alignment with our “box within a box” clinic model.

Qualifications:

  • A must: 2+ years of experience in veterinary operations, including new, de novo, clinic openings, recruitment, and team management. Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years of experience opening de-novo vet clinics. This role does not require medical experience but is a great plus if you have it!
  • Proven track record of scaling operations in the veterinary field, with an understanding of industry-specific challenges.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment with “roll-up sleeve” attitude
  • Demonstrated success in managing multi-disciplinary teams and collaborating across departments.
  • Strong background in staffing and inventory management to optimize profitability.
  • Sales and revenue-driven mindset with experience setting and meeting KPI targets.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities, with a focus on partner engagement.
  • Remote with travel (30-40%)

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive base salary range of $90,000-$130,000
  • High equity compensation package (.25-1%, based on experience)
  • Performance-based bonus for meeting KPIs
  • Health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Professional development and growth opportunities

We’re committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and supportive team at Vetted, and we believe that varied perspectives make us stronger. We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds and experiences, even if you don’t meet every qualification—if this role excites you, we’d love to hear from you!
