Summary

As a Voting Rights Coordinator at the GS-0301-12, you will be part of Merit Sys Accountability and Compliance, Office of Personnel Management. If selected, you will be responsible for providing support to the Department of Justice (DOJ) in administering the Voting Rights Act of 1965, as amended, this involves supervising and coordinating the use of observers to be present at elections specified by the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Duties

Administers and schedules minority language assessment training to observers who have been identified as assessorsRecruits for observers, conducts interviews with applicants, and makes recommendations.Manages the revision, printing, distribution, and inventorying of reports forms used by observers onsite.Review and submits recommendations for updates to standard operating procedures and content for the Voting Rights Program's website.

Requiremennts

Must be a U.S. Citizen or National Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation May be required to successfully complete a probationary period Complete the initial online assessment and USAHire Assessment, if required This position is not eligible for inclusion in a bargaining unit

Qualifications

For the GS 12: You must have 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing ALL of the following duties: 1. Assisting in providing observer coverage for local and state elections; 2. Participating in the negotiation of contracts for public meeting spaces; AND 3. Communicating with individuals from diverse cultural linguistic backgrounds Applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
