Job Description
To ensure prompt and accurate data entry of Medical Exception Request Forms (MERFs) and provide back-up support to the PA Operations Department.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Data entry of incoming MERFs as required. Maintain archived files of processed MERFs and responses/letters in a central location.
- Dispense MERF to appropriate PA Coordinator using established department policy and procedures in a timely manner or as needed.
- Distribute PA reports daily, weekly, and/or monthly to appropriate personnel. Support Customer Service department with administrative duties such as copying, filing, faxing, and interoffice mail delivery as needed.
- Fax verification and research to ensure accuracy of fax transmissions.
- Initiate PA letter print in MedAccess and create banner pages for production when an address banner is missing.
- Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:
High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) or equivalent. 2 years clerical experience. PBM, Health Plan, or Health Care background preferred. Knowledge of medical/pharmacy terminology preferred.
Computer Skills
Intermediate knowledge of MS Office/Word, Excel, and Outlook and aptitude for new programs. Experience with Windows based database programs is also required.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
Current Pharmacy Technician License and/or CPhT certification without restriction preferred.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.

Working Hours
This is a non-exempt position requiring one to be able to work overtime from time to time in order to get the job done. Therefore, one must have the ability to work nights, weekends and/or on holidays as required. This may be changed at any time to meet the needs of the business. The core business hours for this position are 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM seven days per week. Shifts are scheduled throughout this period based on business needs.
Travel
This position does not require travel, however attendance maybe required at various local training sessions and/or meetings.
