Job Description
The Director of Clinical Services (DCS) is accountable for clinical and operational excellence within a defined book of business in an Envision Physician Services operating unit. This position drives improvements in patient care processes and outcomes by partnering with local practice medical leadership and front-line clinicians. Within a defined book of business, the DCS balances the needs and opportunities of a client with internal EMG relationships throughout their portfolio. The DCS identifies areas of opportunity within their book of business and works collaboratively with operating unit leadership team to provide partnership to medical directors and clients towards performance enhancement and goal achievement. The DCS drives implementation of clinical quality, service line clinical operations, corporate initiatives. In addition, the DCS leverages their client relationships to influence and ultimately improve clinician engagement, customer value and contract retention by partnering with Envision business owners. They will evaluate and identify areas of opportunity for improvement with our health system and hospital. Participates and supports initiatives dedicated to delivery of safe, high quality, patient centered care.

Responsibilities
Client Relationships
- Works in conjunction with client site management on long term strategic plan development developing site management objectives and overseeing progress to achieve results ; includes, monitoring and driving performance metrics related to operations, clinical quality practice, patient and clinician experience, site financials , etc. (often partnering with the Clinical Operations group)
- Maintains communications with physician leaders, including those within Envision, to identify potential site opportunities and/or prevent potential problems and serves as point of escalation regarding site issues for internal Envision management team (to include EVP, SVP, RMD, SMD, and DOO).
- Collaborates with hospital client leadership team to utilize networking through the Envision client base as well as benchmarking of hospital performance.
Clinical Operations
- Evaluates and identifies areas of opportunity for improvement with our health system and hospital customers, creating action plans to drive change and accountability.
- Conducts operational assessments, redesign sessions, demand capacity matching and prepares written reports for client and Envision leadership to include findings and recommendations.
- Partners with internal process improvement resources and hospital system customers to plan events that increase our value to hospital systems, ensuring events are linked to key performance indicators and tracks progress following events.
Advisory Services
- Participates in efforts to support growth and resource provision for all provided service lines, could include: providing guidance relative to overall client initiatives and strategic goals (e.g., expansion planning/design, pursuit of hospital Magnet status, Center of Excellence designation, disaster planning drills, accreditations, specialty certificates, etc.) and/or developing comprehensive business plans to assist sites with procuring or justifying additional resources (e.g., business case for additional RN staffing, additional beds, expansion efforts) or promoting strategic direction.
- Aids in responding to regulatory compliance opportunities (i.e., CMS, DOH audits, TJC, DNV) and helps towards developing plans for remediation.
- Mentors and/or coaches clinical leadership and site clinical leaders at assigned facilities, as needed.
Clinical Quality
- Implements health system and hospital customer’s clinical quality initiatives in partnership with Site Clinical Leaders and drives clinical education content by coordinating resources, consultation and training on regulatory requirements and quality standards.
- Deploys the company’s national quality program and acts as a consultant in the monitoring of clinical quality and improvement activities.
Clinician And Patient Experience
- Supports the various activities of clinicians within the assigned sites, which may include onboarding activities, clinical wellbeing, and engagement, by creating a service culture in partnership with client and medical providers; uses established standards and tools.
- Reviews and analyzes patient survey feedback to determine practice and provider-specific strengths and opportunities and may be called up to provide clinician and patient experience training.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.
- Track record of results to include but not limited to physician relations, health systems structures / care transitions, quality, clinical operations, and building relationships
- Experience in physician relations, quality, process enhancements and customer service
- Ability to communicate effectively with executive management, including EMG leadership (VP, SVP) and health system C-suite leadership at the region, division, and / or site level
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- RN required
- 5-10 years of relevant hospital experience including 5 plus years of clinical departmental leadership at a healthcare facility
- 5 plus years of people leadership experience
- LEAN / Six Sigma training preferred (must be obtained within first 12 months in role)
Computer/Technical Skills
- Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Advanced ability for data acquisition, analysis, and visualization towards promoting education, presenting results and or tracking/monitoring performance and successes
- Flowchart and Diagramming software (e.g., Visio)
