Job Summary

The Senior Director, Tax Services and Operations is a key leadership position within Paycor. They are responsible for developing and executing the overall strategy for client tax services across the company and managing performance of a multi-layered organization of Associates.

The Senior Director, Tax Services and Operations champions proactive tax work to ensure a positive client experience. This includes streamlining quarter-end client enrollments with agencies, partnering with the editing and treasury teams, and providing specialized tax services. They oversee Tax Support Services, which includes managing the tax support team and handling direct client questions. This involves partnering with the product owner compliance strategy and the tier 2 tax support and outsourcing strategy.

In addition, the Senior Director of Tax Services and Operations, plays a crucial role as a champion for tax across the organization. You will influence the overall tax modernization strategy within our systems, ensuring efficient workflows within our business tools such as Salesforce.com. Furthermore, you will partner with our treasury team on fund transfers and automation. They also own implementing a comprehensive strategy to effectively and efficiently handle tax notices.

Lastly, this role will contribute to Paycor's bottom line by driving revenue through tax services, such as applied for tax ID registration, as well as determining the overall pricing strategy for billable work. The Senior Director of Tax Services and Operations, will have the opportunity to make a significant impact and play a critical role in the success of the company.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of Associate Managers, Managers and Senior Managers responsible for the day-to-day operations of Tax services for Paycor clients and associates
  • Acts as a champion for modernization of tax systems for Clients and Associates with Product and IT
  • Develop a strategy to cultivate excellent working relationships with Federal, State and Local taxing authorities to maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations and issues
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Learning teams to manage programs that regularly communicate relevant information to internal and external stakeholders ; establish and execute a variety of timely communications targeted toward non-experts to lift the overall aptitude of core
  • Owns strategy with Product and IT for system changes and/or enhancements related to tax needs; actively participate in product update discussions to influence the product roadmap with expediency
  • Successfully implements services or process changes as a result of Paycor’s service offering and software releases
  • Develops additional and/or improved services which drive revenue for Paycor and ensures profitability of resources
  • Works with Tax and Client Service management teams to investigate, analyze and proactively recommend solutions for client service issues, improvements to workflow policies/procedures, staffing needs, etc.
  • Remains knowledge on compliance changes and adjusts to support as needed
  • Continuously evaluates and refines workflows with a focus on gaining efficiencies, increasing productivity, and maximizing the interactions and partnership with front-end Implementation
  • Collaborates with other Client Service Leaders to continually review and enhance operational performance and strategy
  • Serves as the ultimate escalation point, at times conducting on-site client visits
  • Manages expenses within the established budget
  • Provides vision, leadership and guidance to direct reports and department associates;
  • coaches and mentors direct reports to ensure an energized, motivating work environment and desired business outcomes are achieved
  • Works with direct reports on associate relations including performance management, associate development, coaching, and recognition; meets regularly to assess each managers ' team - address performance issues and disciplinary action as needed, identify training needs and develops plans to implement them
  • Appropriately staffs each Tax department with recommendations for both short and long term staffing models; participates in the hiring processes for relevant Tax positions
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience
  • CPA Certification and/or tax related certifications are preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of management experience in payroll industry preferred
  • Excellent leadership and motivational skills
  • Must excel at providing direction and coaching to direct reports and be visible with front line associates and other managers
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with PC software including MS Office, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint Technical troubleshooting aptitude a plus
  • Flexibility in scheduling to meet client needs with short turnaround
  • Ability to adapt to Paycor culture

We also offer competitive compensation determined by each individual's relevant experience, skills, and education. We anticipate the base pay for this position to be between $149,610.008 - $255,418.00. In addition to base pay, Paycor Associates are eligible for either a performance-based annual bonus or commission, depending on their position.
