Job description

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities  

We are seeking a technical intern for our Noblis 2025 Spring Internship Program. Interns will be working with our Simulation and Visualization Research Center. This spring internship may be extended until the end of summer 2025.   

This internship will provide an opportunity to work with a technical team of experienced software developers.  Remote work is available. 

Interns will work as members of a small research team. They will use Python based systems to simulate multi-agent systems, run experiments with the simulators, and help prepare research papers on the results. 

The ideal candidate is a strong Python programmer with a background in combinatorial optimization or multi-agent systems. 

Required Qualifications:
  • Pursuing degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related with a 3.3 GPA
  • US Citizen
  • Strong self-organization and self-management skills, with emphasis on self-initiation and follow through. 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Software Development Experience 
  • Can implement complex algorithms  
  • Is familiar with version control software 
  • Comfortable working in an Agile development environment 
  • Python Programming Experience 
  • Is familiar with the virtual environments and pip. 
  • Expertise in core scientific python libraries (e.g. numpy, pandas, and scipy)  
  • Can effectively utilize and extend existing python code 
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in programming visuals, such as graphs or games. 
  • Experience in using JavaScript for creating dynamic browser-based analytic visuals 
  • Experience working in Unix environment (e.g. bash, zsh) 
  • Experience with multi-threaded programs. 
  • Experience with geospatial software (e.g. CesiumJS, Google Earth) 
  • Knowledge or research experience in multi-agent systems, combinatorial optimization, or simulation.

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package.
