Position Summary

  • Provide leadership and direction to the sales team in the Pharma Business Unit to achieve national sales, marketing and financial objectives within the Specialty Products Business Unit.
  • Analyze and assess company sales performance, make recommendations to ensure that national sales goals are attained or exceeded, while adhering to operating budgets and company policies.
  • Lead and develop managers, sales personnel, as well as support staff to excel within the scope of their responsibilities.
  • Contribute to the development of the company’s objectives, strategies and implementation plans.

Leadership:

  • Model the company Values and Behaviours to reinforce and grow the culture.
  • Educate and inform the leadership team of internal and external opportunities, and challenges that affect the business unit.
  • Foster effective team work between the business units and cross functional stakeholders.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Supervise Regional Sales Managers’ and Sales Representatives’ activities.
  • Develop Regional Sales Managers and Sales Force in order to increase performance.
  • Ensure that sales goals are attained or exceeded for promoted product groups.
  • Achieve the overall annual sales plan while adhering to the operating budget.
  • Recommend sales strategies and sales opportunities.

Management Responsibilities

  • Work closely and cooperate with other functions (Sales operations, etc.)
  • Recommend sales strategies and tactics to business unit lead
  • Enhances current and future business opportunities with customers (eg: health care organizations, emerging primary care providers (Pharmacy, NP, etc).
  • Continually strives to attain optimal ROI as per company financial objectives.
  • Recommend and manage Sales Force structure.
  • Review regional business plans and recommends implementation plans and follow-up.
  • Formulate policies and procedures, guidelines and establishes standards of conduct for the sales department.
  • Provide input on sales training programs.
  • With the HR division, implement and monitor the Performance Evaluation, Objectives and Development Plan for Regional Business Managers, Sales Representatives and Sales staff.
  • Conduct regular performance appraisals with direct reports and develops plans of action when needed.
  • Provide sales progress reports and KPI reports.
  • In collaboration with marketing and Medical & Regulatory Affairs, approve all Continuing Health Education programs.
  • Plan and organize all sales meetings.

Education/Competencies Requirements

Education:

  • University Degree
  • MBA or Post-Graduate Degree, an asset

Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years in the pharmaceutical / health care industry
  • A minimum of 5 years in management / leadership roles
  • Head office role in Sales, Marketing or Operations, an asset
