Technical Editor Senior

Job Description

Technical editor to support Surface Ship Torpedo Defense (SSTD) Vertical Launch Systems (VLS) technical documentation requirements for US Navy and Foreign Military Sales (FMS)

  • Provide support for the review, editing and development of SSTD and VLS technical procedures, processes, and manuals that are published in MS Office applications, Adobe PDFs and IETM’s.
  • Collaborate with other Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) team members in the development, production and distribution of SSTD and VLS technical documentation materials within GDIT and to various government customers.
  • Be responsible for SSTD and VLS, Configuration Management (CM) support using iPDM, CDMD-OA, CIDMS and other pertinent Logistics/Configuration Management Systems.
  • Gather, process, analyze, reconcile, edit and enter SSTD and VLS systems engineering data and fleet modernization data in support of Ship Alteration Systems, Temporary Alteration Records, Engineering Change Orders, Engineering Change Proposals, Navy Training System Plans and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals.

  Education

  • Bachelor degree in any field with five (5) years of professional experience in developing and editing technical documentation (additional experience, education and training may be considered in lieu of degree)

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years’ experience working with engineering and technical personnel developing and publishing technical materials
  • Experience developing, editing and publishing Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) using SGML applications such as Arbortext or MadCap Flare
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat software applications
  • Background supporting Configuration Management  
  • Previous US Navy ASW +background preferred, but not required

Secret clearance or eligible to obtain

The likely salary range for this position is $77,350 - $104,650. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
