Job Title: Head of Mergers and Acquisitions

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid, 3-5x/week)

Our client is an AI-native succession platform, designed to streamline, democratize, and accelerate the sale of legacy industrial businesses.

Position Overview:

A 10x Hustler Banker with a deep knowledge of industrial businesses and accounting, who thrives on the thrill of building something revolutionary. They're personable, charming, and not just a finance bro that can't connect with a small business owner over a beer.

They are looking for a deal expert that thrives on uncertainty and has experience selling industrial and B2B service companies. They want someone who is obsessed with problem-solving and wants to build a disruptive company in an old-school industry. Selling large businesses is hard, selling small businesses is even harder. They need someone who is hungry and does not take no for an answer. They're a leader that hates losing more than they love winning. Why? Because they expect to win.

If you can roll up your sleeves, spot opportunities others miss, and perform a Quality of Earnings (QoE) assessment on a $3M plastics manufacturing business before your morning coffee, they want to talk.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Run point on small business transactions

  • Drive Transactions: Lead deals end-to-end, performing financial analysis, QoEs, and ensuring successful outcomes for buyers and sellers.

  • Shape the Platform: Help refine their AI-powered tools to make due diligence faster, smarter, and more efficient.

  • Build Relationships: Develop deep connections with business owners, investors, and intermediaries in the industrial space.

  • Drive Strategy: Work closely with the founding team to define growth strategies and go-to-market initiatives.

Qualifications:
  • A Financial Expert: You have experience in investment banking, transaction advisory, or PE/VC. You understand the nuances of industrial businesses and can sniff out profit drivers and red flags alike.

  • A Builder: You don’t just want to join a company – you want to help build one. You thrive in ambiguity and are excited by the zero-to-one journey.

  • A Hustler: You’re relentless, resourceful, and have an ownership mentality. No task is too small or too complex.

  • Base salary + 20-25% of deal fees + equity package
