The Opportunity
The Compliance Risk Manager Lead – Information Security Compliance is responsible for providing second-line independent oversight on business products, services, and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. You will play a meaningful role in helping with performing assessments, data requests, and other regulatory interactions. You will support various requests from our federal and state regulators. Above all, you will collaborate extensively with business partners.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA or Tampa, FL.
Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
- Anticipates and identifies future needs, opportunities and potential compliance solutions, and leads cross-functional teams through the problem resolution process.
- Assesses results of data analyses, provides credible challenge and recommends innovative compliance solutions.
- Develops, designs and delivers compliance strategies to influence business leadership on effective solutions and may represent leadership on complex issues.
- Maintains and expands expert knowledge of the competitive/regulatory landscape and the company's key challenges.
- May coordinate and respond to regulatory requirements and requests and ensures the execution of examinations.
- Implements compliance risk management activities in accordance with enterprise compliance standards.
- Serves as the technical expert regarding compliance laws and regulations and provides direction to others on complex issues.
What you have:
- Bachelor's degree. or 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- 8 or more years confirmed experience in compliance, risk, legal or audit within the financial services or insurance industry or specialized technical fields directly related to the role.
- Demonstrated experience working in a highly regulated environment.
- Experienced knowledge of relevant industry regulations and regulatory compliance in a specific area
- Detailed knowledge of compliance laws, regulations, and regulatory expectations.
- Proven track record to apply advanced knowledge of regulatory compliance to consult and provide insight and mentorship.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of management.
- Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office tools to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

- Strong understanding of information security compliance policies and procedures
- A consistent track record to communicate effectively with executive leadership, business partners, internal audit and externally with regulators.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to simplify complex topics.
- Previous experience with project management and ability to provide advice and mentorship that confirms the end result will meet regulatory requirements.
- Experience implementing a information security compliance strategy, which should include the following: regulatory complaint's oversight, assessment of regulatory requirements, accurate supervision, and guidance of business requirements to comply.
- Familiarity with establishing and maintaining process controls and documentation for large, complex issues, operations, or functions.
- High attention to detail, organized, and able to successfully lead large, complex, and time-sensitive matters.
- Strong analytical, technical, and statistical skills. Ability to synthesize / analyze diverse information, develops recommendations, and makes decisions.
- Compliance risk management experience in a complex institution and or highly matrixed environment related to financial services.
- Validated ability to evaluate the business climate, anticipate change and develop compensating strategies/vision.
- Risk and Compliance industry certifications or designations (CISSP, CISM, CRISC, MCM, AMCM, CPCU, ARM, ARC, CCEP, etc.).
- Strong understanding of NIST 800-53, NIST 800-63, SOC2, GDPR, etc.

What we offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $120,550 - $230,400.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
