Job Description:

Providing for loved ones, planning rewarding retirements, saving enough for whatever lies ahead – our policyholders count on us to be there when it matters most. It’s a big ask, but it’s one that we have the power to deliver when we work together. We collaborate and innovate – pushing one another to transform not just Pacific Life, but the entire industry for the better. Why? Because it’s the right thing to do. Pacific Life is more than a job, it’s a career with purpose. It’s a career where you have the support, balance, and resources to make a positive impact on the future – including your own.

We’re actively seeking a talented Security Monitoring Service Lead to join our Cyber Operations Team.

  • This role is 100% remote. You’ll stay connected to Pacific Life from your home office.

As a Security Monitoring Service Lead you’ll move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by providing enterprise-wide detection, analysis, and response capabilities for organizational cybersecurity events.  You will fill an existing role that sits on a team of six people in the Enterprise Functions division. Your colleagues will include analysts, engineers, and fellow cybersecurity professionals.

Your day-to-day work will focus on initiatives designed to drive the maturity of our cybersecurity operations program. Additionally, you will also be responsible for strategically planning multi-year roadmaps, service catalogs and enhancing overall service delivery.

Our ideal candidate is a hungry senior level security engineer who has a strong interest in cybersecurity operations. Someone who has designed and contributed to security monitoring programs and achieved successful results. This role will provide opportunity to expand into leadership competencies by driving the actions of others on the team.

How you’ll help move us forward:

  • Support our current capabilities of Security Information Event Management, Cyber Threat Intelligence, Threat Detection & Response, Phishing Email Analysis, Adversary Hunt, Threat Detection Development, Security Orchestration Automation Response and Insider Threat.

  • Define and socialize a Security Monitoring strategy/roadmap, Service Catalog, and related policies, standards, procedures, and controls.

  • Represent the service across the organization, partnering with our internal divisions and business units to understand their needs and how Security Monitoring can best serve them.

  • Create, implement, and report metrics (KRIs/KPIs/SLAs) to measure the effectiveness and maturity of your service.

  • Assess, plan for, and implement tools and capabilities that will improve efficiency and effectiveness such as Security Orchestration (SOAR), Adversary Simulation, etc.

The experience you bring:

  • 8+ years of experience within Information Security that includes 3+ years in a Security Operations Center (SOC).

  • Strong ability to prioritize and execute with minimal direction or oversight.

  • Flexible and adaptable self-starter with strong relationship-building skills.

  • Proven track record of successfully managing and executing on short term and long-term projects.

  • Strong understanding of cyber-attacks, ability to assess risk and coordinate effective response.

What makes you stand out:

  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GSOM, GCIH, GSEC, GCLD or equivalent experience and skills.

  • Deep understanding of threat detection and response process and procedures.

  • Strong understanding of several technologies including SIEM, SOAR, EDR and other alerting sources.

  • Familiarity with investigating security events within cloud environments.

You can be who you are.
