Job description

Position: HR Assistant 

Hours: Monday to Friday; 8:30am - 5:00pm 

Type: Full-Time; 6 Months Fixed-Term Contract 

Location: Remote

We currently require a Dynamic, Smart and Results oriented individual for our Human Resources Assistant located Remotely. We are a national provider of workplace medical testing and assessments based in Ayr, Ontario. We have Occupational Health Clinics in Kitchener, Sarnia, Mississauga, Calgary, Nisku, Edmonton and Fort McMurray. Dedication to customer satisfaction, fast and accurate turnaround of test results, flexibility, persistence and accountability are of the utmost importance.

The HR Assistant plays a key role in supporting the Human Resources department and overall HR services for the company. This role is important in cultivating, promoting and fostering the DriverCheck culture in all activities. Working in a fast-paced environment, this position will provide support for the day-to-day functions of the department to ensure smooth and efficient operation.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

Department Specific Functions 

  • Triage general inquiries from employees and leadership group and distributes these among the HR team members and responds to routine questions 
  • Assist with recruitment and selection of internal and external candidates across all DriverCheck locations;
  • Assist with the values-based recruitment process through internal and external job postings, resume screening, phone and in-person interviewing, conducting reference checks, extending job offers and supporting candidates through the recruitment process;
  • Assist with developing, updating and implementing efficient Human Resources policies, procedures and processes; 
  • Assist with companywide training (development, delivery and feedback); 
  • Assist with the new employee orientation program; 
  • Assist with job description development;
  • Participate in regular research and compliance initiatives; 
  • Support employee engagement initiatives; 
  • Assist with the maintenance of employee files; 
  • Provide administrative support in all areas of HR and perform other duties and projects as required;

 

Operational Functions 

  • Assist with monitoring legislation and facilitate the transfer of best practices; 
  • Monitor, review and maintain the effectiveness of processes; 
  • Operate successfully in a very fast paced and hectic environment; 
  • Work independently and in a team environment;  

 

Customer Service 

  • Ensure high levels of quality and professional customer service; 
  • Work to create a service driven process; 
  • Service excellence is a core expectation; 

 

Health and Safety 

  • Demonstrate commitment to health and safety; 
  • Set a standard of performance and behavior (lead by example); 
  • Communicate expectations for health and safety to co-workers; 
  • Promote health and safety awareness; 
  • Other Duties as assigned

 

What you need to be successful in the role:

                                                                                                              

  • Post-secondary education with focus on HR or related field;
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation or working towards preferred;
  • 1+ year as an HR Professional;
  • Good knowledge of current employment-related laws and legislation;
  • Effective written and verbal communication that can reach all levels of the organization;
  • Ability to exhibit professionalism and diplomacy with all levels of the organization - including stressful/high pressured situations;
  • High level of critical and logical thinking;
  • Strong interpersonal relationship building and coaching skills with the ability to exercise the appropriate level of confidentiality when required;
  • Excellent organizational management skills and strong attention to detail;
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment in a respectful way, adapt to change and have the ability to promotive positive culture.
