We are looking for:

  • HSE Manager to plan, direct, and coordinate activities of an organization to ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulatory standards for the Syensqo Pasadena, TX Plant. 
  • Collect data on work environments for analysis.
  • Implement and conduct evaluation of programs designed to limit chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic risks to workers.
  • Review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and design programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury. Conduct inspections and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals. 
  • Ensure plant compliance with Syensqo, governmental and NGO requirements and standards.
  • Organize annual Safety Day with the safety committee. .

  • The position requires good computer skills along with excellent verbal   and written communication skills.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of safety, including a mix of OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations, knowledge of ACC and NFPA guidelines desired
  • Excellent written communication skills for writing reports, trainings, proposals and more. Writing must be concise and exact
  • Comfortable working in an industrial environment and the hazards that accompany it: exposure to all  weather elements
  • Knowledge in selection and use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Knowledge in safety engineering, industrial hygiene, and environmental compliance activities.
  • Experience in Hazard Recognition, Evaluation & Control
  • In-depth knowledge in the transportation and storage of hazardous chemicals through various modes of transportation.
  • Detail oriented, self-starter, able to work without direct supervision
  • Knowledge of governmental HSE standards, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Proficient with universal waste and production waste disposal program administration
  • Understanding to the assisting level of air, water, and other environmental permitting processes
  • As a member of the site’s staff management team, provide leadership for assigned sites on health, safety, security and environmental management
  • Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective actions, and implement follow up assessments.
  • Plans, implements, and conducts preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs.
  • Leads the emergency response process for drills, hazmat response and assist at INEOS Oxide’s EOC.
  • Lead site activities related to the Responsible Care Management System (RCMS)
  • Manage the monthly metrics and reporting  as required to satisfy internal Syensqo, RCMS and external agency requirements to include environmental
  • Verify all HSE policies and procedures are disseminated, documented, implemented and communicated.
  • Conduct periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure HSE procedures are followed.
  • Provide employee training on HSE related topics, policies, or procedures.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees to communicate with management, seek clarification on issues or dilemmas, or report irregularities.
  • Participate in the HSE Audits 
  • Ensure the consistent implementation and training of safety programs, procedures and guidelines.
  • Lead the review of HSE and process safety related incidents to ensure they are properly classified and investigated for root causes and drive the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Assist in the HSE and process safety evaluation of new projects and ventures while evaluating and recommending actions to improve safety performance and lower risk.
  • Work with Production Manager and Supervisors  on the scheduling of all required training for all plant employees to ensure regulatory compliance for all HSSE, DOT, and process safety concerns
  • Coordinate and support employee led behavioral based safety programs.
  • Manage monthly and quarterly HSE inspections to comply with Syensqo, governmental and NGO agencies.
  •  Support and participate in plant HSE initiatives including such things as performing behavioral based safety observations.
  • Enforce all site and corporate safety rules and procedures within the plant.  Lead by example.
  • Assure all safety inspections and audits are performed and documented.
  • Conduct periodic inspections to assure compliance to existing safety rules and procedures and to assess the effectiveness and need for other risk reduction activities within the departments.
  • Support Process Safety Management including Management of Change and ensure incident investigations are conducted in area of responsibility and that action items are completed in a timely manner.
  • The position has elements of both office and field work.  Position is expected to actively assist process engineers, quality and operations personnel as well as personally making field visits/measurements and preparing analyses of acquired data.  The position will operate under minimal supervision and oversight by the plant manager.
  • The position has wide latitude to accomplish plant objectives through application of reasonable technical, industrial, and engineering practices.

  

You will bring: 

  • A bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • Experience in a chemical plant utilizing Responsible Care Management System preferred. 
  • Professional HSE certifications preferred.
  • Six Sigma certification valued.

 

You will get:

  • The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $103,360 to $129,200 per year.
  • Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range.
  • Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives. 
  • 16, or more, weeks of maternity/paternity and co-parenting leave, according to local regulations.
