Job description

Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

The Compliance EDD Analyst will be responsible for performing enhanced due diligence for new and existing high risk customer accounts while ensuring that Coinbase remains the most trusted exchange. In this role you will be participating in client calls acting as a point of escalation for compliance related questions from the client and support teams. This role falls within the Financial Crimes Compliance Services, on Coinbase’s Trust & Risk team.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Be one of the main points of contact for the Whiteglove segment of customers. These are crypto forward HNWI’s who require onboarding EDD or assistance with Compliance Restrictions.
  • Escalation point for questions arising during enhanced due diligence reviews conducted by the Compliance T3 Retail team on issues relating to EDD.
  • A large focus on project work relating to the EDD program which will require communicating with internal and external partners in an effective, organized, and insightful manner
  • Working with Compliance management on Internal Audit findings, regulator calls and/or drafting responses relating to 3rd party auditors. This role will require participation on high level calls.
  • A multitude of Adhoc requests will come in on a weekly basis that will need ownership and resolution.

What we look for in you:

  • Motivated by Coinbase’s mission and values. Clear understanding of Coinbase’s cultural tenants.
  • Experienced in project work with at least a few examples of project work completed.
  • Have experience as being a point of contact in dealing with escalations.
  • Have worked on HNWI/VIP’s EDD reviews with evidence of NDR/open source reviews completed over the past year.
  • At least 1 year of experience in the T3 retail EDD team.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. and International AML laws, regulations, and guidelines (e.g., BSA, 5MLD, etc...).

Nice to haves:

  • Anti-Money Laundering Specialist Certification i.e ICA Diploma or CAMS.
  • Advanced knowledge of blockchain technology including but not limited to how wallets work, NFT’s, cold storage etc.
