Job Summary

Reporting into the Global Storage and Backup Services Team, the Backup, Recovery and Storage Engineer will be primarily responsible creating, maintaining and operating a global Linux-based NetBackup and storage environment.  In this role you will need to work in collaboration with the other network and server teams from across the globe to ensure that all key systems are backed up with a high success rate.  The engineer will ensure that backup, recovery and storage systems are in compliance with applicable security policies, regulations and industry standards.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Storage Management: Configuring, monitoring and maintaining storge systems including NetApp and IBM.
  • Implement and maintain storage protocols such as NFS CIFS/SMB, ISCSI, and Fibre Channel.
• Backup administration: Maintaining and monitoring backup and recovery solutions such as NetBackup running on Veritas Flex Appliances.
• Data protection and security: Implementing data encryption and access controls and performing regular audits of storage and backup systems.
• Collaboration and Support: Working with other IT teams to integrate and support systems and applications, and working providing Tier 3 support for storage and backup related incidents.
• Capacity planning: Manage, monitor storage performance, capacity and health.
• Troubleshooting: Troubleshooting network connectivity and hardware problems.
• Patching: Ensure that all backup storage and backup environments receive regular patching and hardened.
• Monitoring and Alerting: Monitor daily backups to ensure all scheduled backups have completed or need to be re-run.
  • Monitor the performance of NAS and SAN equipment.
  • Ensure the proper alerting is setup to send notifications for low disk space or LUN/Volume constraints.
• Provide input in the development of operating and capital budgets for the backup and SAN environments.
• Ensure best practices are followed for securing, and tuning data center storage systems.

Assist in designing a comprehensive plan to restore all company operations from a major outage in a timely manner, including ransomware attacks.

Experience

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in NetApp, Veritas, IBM, Linux or equivalent backup and storage environments.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, certifications NetBackup, Veritas, IBM or equivalent work experience required.

Language

• Excellent conversational and written knowledge in English (C1 level minimum).
• French and Spanish language skills are a bonus.
