The main objective of this position is to lead and develop Chapter members, enhancing their capabilities to contribute effectively to the Finance division. This role involves being accountable for functional expertise and utilising it to create and uphold methodologies, standards, quality, and tools within the area of expertise. We are looking for a candidate to join the team on a 12 month fixed term contract with the potential to become permanent.

 

You'll be responsible for

  • Lead the establishment and growth of the chapter and its members to ensure they have a sense of purpose and are continually developing and building on skills.
  • Drive technical excellence across the chapter and into the respective squads in relation to financial and reinsurance accounting, reconciliations and controls,  financial, regulatory and sustainability reporting.
  • Drive employee engagement, lead people performance and development processes.
  • Develop and maintain unified approach, best practice and methodologies for area of expertise.
  • Participate in synchronisation meetings with Agile Leaders and Product Owners to guide definition of strategies and priorities.
  • Work collaboratively with Agile Leaders by providing inputs on allocation and staffing of chapter members across squads.
  • Be actively involved in initiatives related to area of expertise.

 

About you

  • Significant experience in a financial control environment, for a complex, matrixed general insurance/ financial services organisation.
  • Demonstrated technical excellence in the area of financial accounting, with comprehensive experience and understanding of subject matter.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline with relevant certification.
  • Comprehensive understanding of organisational financial frameworks and experience in managing financial management processes, resources, and systems, providing advice to improve financial performance and achieve strategic objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and empower people to develop individual and team potential.
  • Highly developed consulting skills and influencing skills, demonstrating the ability to co-create strategy
  • Demonstrate an Agile mindset and knowledge of Agile methodologies and concepts.
