Video Producer (Remote)

Location: Washington, Washington, D.C.

Job Type: Contract

Compensation Range: $40 - 45 per hour

We are looking for a Video Producer to join our top client in the science, history, and animal entertainment field for a long term contract. The Video Producer must have the ability to develop, produce,and edit content adapted to formats and editing styles authentic to social platforms. They will be responsible for pieces ranging from quick-turn pieces responding to current event to long-range evergreen stories and features. The position also requires strong collaboration with editorial staff, photo editors, photo and video contributors.

Responsibilities:

• Execute pre-production tasks and story development by researching, interviewing, and writing scripts; collaborate closely with writers for development and expert sourcing to ensure editorial alignment, accuracy, and integrity.
• Execute production tasks such as scheduling and recording mobile shoots, production logistics field videographer or story contributer; direct host talent during recording sessions.
• Execute post-production tasks video research and acquistion, editing; ensure delivery of finished script; implement editorial notes from stakeholder reviews.
• Participate in team production brainstorms and content plans; pitch ideas for potential one-off stories or series; assist Director of Video & Immersives to make educated decisions on the editorial direction of the department.
• Secure releases from featured talent and third-party visual materials; work with Production Manager and Legal on releases, contracts, and fair use matters.
• Create copy for video captions with necessary tagging information that is appealing and resonates with the digital audience; responsible for delivering final metadata to Social Team for video publishing; review and approve promotion thumbnails.
• Keep record of production expenses and process invoices.
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• Ability to collaborate with editorial staff to identify stories and develop pitches.
• Keen eye for motion graphic design and a strong visual sensibility.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, AfterEffects, Media Encoder, Illustrator).
• 5+ years professional video production experience; previous work on explainer content a plus.
• Previous experience and enthusiasm for social video content and audience on TikTok and Instagram.
• Familiarity with other social platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter/X.
• Awareness of successful content creators for potential partnerships.
