Nurse Consultant

Responsabilities:

• Follows all established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Step Processes related to Absence and Disability Management Service offerings.
• Maintains high quality services and participates in quality and utilization review practices such as, but not limited to peer review and inter-rater reliability.
• Performs medical consults with operations staff on FML, STD or ADA claims.
• Manages FML 2nd/3rd opinion claims.
• Completion of STD claim appeals
• Ensures that all transfers of medical and behavioral health records or information are done in a manner that is confidential and HIPAA compliant.
• Provides medical subject matter expertise related to medical conditions and associated treatments
• May perform case management functions on complex claims
• Communicates with associated stakeholders, internal and external while maintaining good working relationships in a friendly, warm and professional manner.
• Maintain the confidentiality of information appropriately. 
• Work effectively and efficiently under periods of high consult volumes, deadlines and multiple interruptions.
• Engage in consultations with healthcare providers and employees in multiple time zones.

Succeeding as a Nurse Consultant will require the following skills and qualifications:

• Minimum of five (5) years nursing experience
• Minimum of three (3) years case management experience
• Maintain RN CMEs to support licensure
• Current LPN or RN (preferred) licensure
• CM certification (preferred)
• Knowledge of FML and Short-Term Disability, and ADAAA policies, case management practices, and current medical trends and developments.
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and is an excellent listener.
• Adapt easily to changes.
