This position requires you to maintain internet service and a mobile phone with voice and data plans to be used when required for work.

This position provides life/work balance with typically a 40-hour work week and travel generally limited to training (e.g., conferences/courses).

Purpose

We are seeking a Metadata Management and Customer Support Coordinator to join the D2I Functional team. In this position, you will support both metadata catalog stewards and customers and the broader analytic community served by D2I.

Responsibilities

Support Metadata Catalog Stewards and Customers

  • Train university data analysts and stewards in the creation of metadata and use of the metadata catalog.
  • Assist catalog stewards in reviewing, entering, and updating information on technical and business metadata under their purview.
  • Provide feedback on features and processes to improve the stewardship experience.
  • Assist in the collection and reporting on stewardship metrics for metadata management practices.
  • Provide customer orientation, support, and training for Alation users.

Support Self-Service Analytics, Training, and Communication

  • Act as a liaison between the Associate Director for Campus Partnerships and D2I Functional Team Director, Metadata Management Lead, and Metadata Management Coordinator.
  • Collaborate in the development of training and support materials for D2I services.
  • Provide customer triage, support, and training related to customer-developed analytic solutions, data spokes, data models, Organizational Hierarchy Service, transformed data layers, and other services as needed.
  • Maintain internal and external documentation related to the above.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems creatively and pragmatically.
  • Ability to anticipate, understand, and document others’ use cases and needs.
  • Ability to cross-reference and categorize information.
  • Understanding of data sensitivity, security, and stewardship considerations as they pertain to data and metadata access.
  • Proven prioritization and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new concepts and technologies when needed.
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience providing proactive and responsive customer support.
  • Ability to work independently and to positively contribute to collaborative teams.
  • Comfort in a work environment with new, evolving and sometimes undefined processes.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with data management and reporting. 
  • Knowledge of data modeling concepts.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
  • Familiarity with UT systems.
  • Experience with metadata management software.
  • Experience using Agile methodologies

Salary Range

$60,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
  • Up to 100% remote at employee discretion with office work environment also an option. Majority of team is located in Austin, TX, and working remotely with infrequent in-office presence.
