Responsibilities:

The Birth Registration Coordinator is responsible for the organization, accuracy, and condition of the birth certificate information according to the NJ DOH regulations. The Coordinator is responsible for accurately obtaining and entering data into the Electronic Birth Certificate, maintenance of the EBC/VIP System, and transmission of the data to the NJ DOH and the local Department of Health. The EBC Coordinator is responsible for greeting and assisting any person who comes to the nursing unit.

  • Ensure the organization, accuracy and condition of the birth certificate information according to DOH regulations 2. Accurately obtaining and entering data into the electronic Birth Certificate 3. Obtains designated signatures from parents 
  • Maintains the Electronic Birth Certificate/ Vital Information Platform System of New Jersey 
  • Responsible for the transmission of the data to the NJ DOH and the Local DOH 6. Enters birth certificate information into appropriate computer software program and transmits data in a timely manner as required by state law.
  • Reviews completed birth certificate worksheet for completeness and accuracy, ensuring that signatures of the parents are obtained for the birth certificate and any other state specific program, such as Healthy Start, Medicaid, Social Security forms. Works with the parents to complete the Acknowledgment of Paternity form, which can require patience, diplomacy and sensitivity if there is conflict regarding parental responsibility
  • In the case of a fetal death, a death certificate is prepared and filed to the state 10. Ensures that the PKU information is filled out and sent correctly to the state. 11. Responsible for greeting and assisting any person who comes to the nursing unit. In addition, assists the professional nursing staff by performing a variety of tasks as directed. 12. Maintains confidentiality with all PHI and HIPAA related information.
  • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned. 14. Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 5 lbs. and stands a minimum of 1 hours a day.
Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: 

  • The individual must be proficient with computer skills 
  • Bilingual strongly preferred  Must have exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrate functional competencies. 
  • Must support the mission, vision, and values of HMH
