Role
Splunk is looking for a committed, passionate and results oriented Senior/Principal Product Manager to join the Data Platform PM team in its mission to build the next generation of platform capabilities powering industry leading security and observability applications. This is a unique opportunity to lead Splunk’s next generation search federation and make a huge impact in the growing data lake market. In this role you will drive the strategic direction, roadmap, positioning and GTM for search federation extending Splunk security and observability portfolio to data residing in data lakes.
You will use your understanding of the data platforms, analytics, big data, cloud technologies, scalability, and high availability to synthesize ideas that improve and evolve Splunk's widely acclaimed Data Platform powering security and observability business solutions at massive scale. Responsibilities
As with any fast-growing company, day-to-day responsibilities will span the entire product management lifecycle and include deep interaction with customers, sales, and engineering.
  • Own the full lifecycle of the product/service experience, gathering requirements, driving execution, pricing, deploying and operating the service
  • Define and evolve the product roadmap for search federation across cloud data lakes and lake-houses
  • Engage with customers, develop insights into what is possible, and transform them into clear value propositions and results
  • Define product specs, user stories, mockups, acceptance criteria and drive execution in collaboration with engineering and QA
  • Interact and collaborate with Cloud SREs, SEs, and customer success teams, to deploy and operate Splunk Cloud platform services
  • Collaborate with product marketing and partner teams to support content creation, product positioning, pricing and drive Go-To-Market
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in product management
  • Experience as a Product Manager in successfully building, launching and promoting adoption of data platform features and products for unstructured, structured, and semi-structured data with direct revenue attached.
  • Deep understanding of data/analytics market, technology (Big Data, Databases, Query Processing, Data Lakes), competition, and industry
  • Strong sense of product/service ownership, bias for execution and customer empathy to care deeply about customer problems and user experience
  • Collaborative team player, with strong communication skills, including the ability to translate sophisticated technical products and features into simple concepts
Desired Skills:
  • Experience building products involving large scale data management, Big Data analytics, search and cloud technologies
  • Strong bias for action, creative thinking, innovation, and product decision-making
  • Operate and think in terms of the business outcomes, end-user experience and the underlying technology stack to drive those experiences and outcomes
  • Familiarity with databases, query optimization and execution, cloud services and technologies such as Athena, Glue, S3, Azure Data Lake Storage, GCS, Big Query, Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake
  • Passion for solving exciting technical/business problems and building enterprise products with intuitive user experience
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g. EE, CS); MBA or similar degree highly preferred

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $181,200.00 - 249,150.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $163,080.00 - 224,235.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $144,960.00 - 199,320.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
