Job description

This position is a Field position that is located in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, or West Virginia.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide training classes for employees by scheduling and conducting training classes. 
  • Maintain all record keeping for certification and license compliance. 
  • Develop lesson plans and training material for training events within the Business Unit.
  • Provide on-the-job training using in-house training programs.
  • Keeping management apprised of training progress; making recommendations; providing support to employees after completion of training.
  • Visit stores on a periodic basis to ensure compliance with training standards, review training progress, issues, and opportunities.
  • Provide training and support to store employees by developing and delivering training programs in an engaging environment that adapts to different learning styles.
  • Improve and modify training programs by identifying new requirements and changes within the industry and best practices.
  • Build rapport with trainees and encourage their development.
  • Order training supplies and materials to enhance instruction.
  • Encourage store compliance with training completion requirements.
  • Increase professional and technical knowledge by; reading professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Maintain relationships by developing an understanding of the strategies and business operations of the company; assisting in preparation of presentations; answering questions; explaining policies and procedures.
  • Assist management in achieving their business goals by sharing ideas and best practices.
  • Develop and work with curriculum designers and subject matter experts on the creation and modification of new programs as organizational needs change.
  • Educate operations personnel on effective training techniques, (i.e., the “how to” of training) by implementing and delivering instructional programs, curriculum, training procedures and aids, computer-based training (CBT) and materials using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos and lectures.
  • Provide topic specific training programs to operations and support employees aimed at maintaining and improving their individual job skills.
  • Initiate and build a positive culture and team environment with a focus on engagement and strengths-based leadership with frequent feedback.
  • Maintain knowledge of multiple company initiatives and supplier brand programs, requirements and procedures.
  • Create and maintain standards for store trainers and their trainees.
  • Comfortable speaking and/or presenting in small and large audiences among various levels in the organization (Store Level to Executive Level.)
  • Deliver training content using different avenues: virtually, in-person, and through e-learning.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
  • 3-5 years of experience or more preferred in convenience retailing; 2 years of experience in training as a facilitator or instructor.
  • Must be computer literate in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. With advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must possess Multi-Unit Experience.
  • Must possess strong analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple activities.
  • Must be able to communicate professionally both verbally and written.
  • Must be able to always maintain a positive team attitude and professional demeanor.
  • Must be self-motivated to accomplish all assigned duties in a set time-frame.
  • Up to 50% travel may be required.
