Seagate’s Longmont\Shakopee Design Center is hiring an Intern Firmware/Software Engineer in the Firmware, Test Process and Integration team. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved with new product development. The Firmware Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining drive level embedded real time code and host side python code. They will implement, debug and deploy code for new data storage products, used to manufacture quality products through the Test Process

About the role - you will:

The Intern position will focus on one or two projects for the duration of the internship. Duties of this role will include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, Develop, Test and Integration new Test Process features into Hard Disc Drive products
  • Work closely with HDD Test Process engineers to develop tools that will be instrumental in the code development life-cycle
  • Get involved in challenging projects and gain exposure to software engineering best practices
  • Participate in requirements gathering and be responsible for developing, debugging and deploying these tools
  • Contribute to cross functional teams
  • Present recommendations to the team

About you:

  • Ability to solve complex and dynamic problems. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with confidence in presenting to groups. 
  • Comfortability with and interest in working in fast paced environment of tech industry. 
  • Self-motivated with desire to learn.

Your experience includes:

  • Base knowledge or experience working with embedded firmware and/or Python code, experience developing (design, implementation, debug).
  • Analytical skills
  • Experience using code development tools (emulators, trace, version control, compilers, linkers, analyzers)
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent degree

  • Agile / SCRUM methodologies

The estimated base wage range for this position is $24 - $35/hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. 

 

Seagate offers comprehensive benefits to its eligible Interns, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, and participation in the employee stock purchase plan.  Seagate also offers Interns paid time off, including 12 holidays and a minimum of 48 hours of paid sick leave.  The benefits for this position are based on a 24 to 40-hour-per-week schedule for a full calendar year and may differ depending on work location and tenure with the Company.
