Senior Revenue Accountant - Remote
Role Overview:
The Senior Revenue Accountant plays a critical role in revenue accounting to support our team's strategy, growth, and innovation. You’ll work in a fast-paced and supportive environment while collaborating with the Accounting team and Operations (FP&A, Tax, IT, Compliance, etc.). You’ll own many aspects of general ledger-related activities focused on revenue accounting, proper application of US GAAP, various accounting transactions, monthly and quarterly close and balance sheet account reconciliations.
This role will be responsible for recording revenue, GAAP compliance, revenue allocations, analysis, and revenue reporting. You’ll participate in setting your own objectives and priorities and follow through in accordance with established procedures. Your keen eye for detail and accuracy will be key to your success in this role.
About The Role:
Prepare monthly/quarterly revenue reporting and analytics
Work with multiple teams across the organization (Marketing, Legal, Sales, Sales Finance, FP&A, Deal Desk, Support, Accounts Receivable, Close and Reporting) to assist with deal review and resolve any revenue issues
Review contracts and individual sales transactions for proper revenue recognition based on guidance under ASC 606 Software Revenue Recognition, and company's revenue recognition policies
Review of MDF and rebate agreements that they are in line with McAfee revenue policy
Review and approve MDF/Rebates calculation and payments to the Distributors and Resellers
Perform all required month-end close activities including journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations (for MDF/Rebates, Revenue Share and Royalties), and management reporting
Work closely with Order Operations team to ensure orders are booked with appropriate support and key terms that will drive correct revenue recognition
Perform required testing to make changes to our current revenue systems and help to roll out process changes to WW Revenue team
Work with internal audit and external auditors in the testing of controls, perform walkthroughs and help implement improvements in the existing control environment
Work with internal and external auditors related to the financial statement audit and control reviews
Partake in special projects and complete ad hoc tasks and research
About You:
3+ years (we'd love more!) of Public Accounting or Corporate Accounting
CPA preferred
BA/BS/BBA degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
At least 2 years recent experience with ASC 606
Experience building and maintaining internal/external relationships
Experience with software clients or industry experience with software revenue recognition
Demonstrate proficiency in technical Accounting
Advanced Excel knowledge; can manipulate large amounts of data, pivot tables, vlookups, formulas, etc.
ERP experience preference: SAP or Workday
