Job Summary
Working with the Project PI and Editorial team, the Project Coordinator will support the development of a book and other products that capture the history of child health and health care in British Columbia from 1995-2020. Duties will include overall project coordination, interview of key informants, search and cataloguing historical documents including photos and other media, support product production using range of media, working with editorial team in drafting and editing content, and supervising graduate student working for the project.
Organizational Relationship
This position is housed within the Department of Pediatrics but will work across multiple organizations associated with child health and health care including UBC, PHSA, BCCHRI, BCCH Foundation. The 0.6 FTE 12-month position provides opportunity for flexible hours and primary work from home.
Work Performed
Assist in development of the project work plan and schedule and monitor compliance to the plan assuring completion on time.
Support the development of content and alignment with planned products including core book and associated on-line resources.
Arrange and conduct key informant interviews and theme discussion groups, supporting transcription of material for inclusion in the planned products.
Assist with determining most appropriate publication options and support contract discussions with publisher.
Organize project editorial meetings and chapter meetings assuring support of chapter leads.
Assist editorial and chapter leads with background material and developing and editing drafts of content.
Provide supervision of graduate student and transcription staff as required.
Carry out any other related duties as required in keeping with the qualifications and requirements of positions in this classification.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
The project coordinator will be supervised by the Principal Investigator working with the editorial team and chapter leads. The Project Coordinator will be working with a broad range of individuals – faculty, staff, families, community members - who may have limited time available to the project. This will require sensitivity combined with firmness to achieve the goals within the timeline available. Compromise to relationships or failure to keep to timelines may compromise the overall project. Compromise of content accuracy and/or quality may lead to negative impact with key funding partners or individuals who have made contributions to the history.
Supervision Received
Works under general supervision; receives detailed instructions on the assignment of new duties and thereafter only on new or unusual problems.
Supervision Given
Will assign work and supervise graduate student employed part-time and oversee transcriptionist work.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of a relevant technical program or a university degree in a relevant discipline and a minimum three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in humanities, social or health sciences or bachelor’s degree with appropriate experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills and publication experience. Interpersonal, organizational skills and attention to detail are mandatory. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment. Ability to travel locally as needed. Must have strong work ethic and demonstrated capacity to work independently.
