Senior QA Tester

We are currently seeking a Senior QA Tester to join our team Remote based anywhere in Canada. 

Position Summary:
We are looking for a Quality Assurance/Tester. The ideal candidate brings a minimum of 5+ years of experience in testing functional requirements such as scheduling, timekeeping, pay, overtime calculations etc. as well as nonfunctional requirements such as the integrations between multiple IT systems, performance, security etc. This role is supporting a Federal Canadian client, and all qualified applicants must currently hold a valid Security Clearance and be able to provide proof.

Job Description:

• Review background documents and data.
• Develop a preliminary strategy/recommendation for overall system testing.
• Ensure all functionalities of the system are covered by the testing plans.
• Overview of the required services:
  • Test strategy development and test case development based on workshops and requirements document.
  • Conduct various levels of testing including but not limited to Unit test, functional test, integration test, Regression test etc.
  • Participate in project meetings as required.
  • Provide effort estimations, status, and various reports on testing progress to the management committee.
  • Work with technical resources to follow up on bugs and re-tests.
• Functional Testing:
  • Conduct functional tests to validate the scheduling, timekeeping, pay, overtime calculations, and other related functionalities.
  • Ensure that all integrations between the systems are tested for accuracy and reliability.
• Non-Functional Testing:
  • Perform non-functional testing to assess performance, security, and the overall stability of the integrations between the two systems.
  • Identify potential bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, or other risks that could impact the system's performance.
• Defect Reporting:
  • Log and report defects or issues found during testing in a clear, detailed manner, including steps to reproduce, expected outcomes, and severity levels.
  • Work closely with the development and integration teams to ensure defects are resolved in a timely manner.
• Test Reporting and Documentation:
  • Provide regular status updates, including test progress, defect logs, and any risks or blockers encountered during the testing process.
  • Deliver a final test report summarizing the testing activities, outcomes, issues found, and their resolutions.
• Post-Testing Support:
  • Assist with any post-testing activities, such as retesting resolved defects or providing input for user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Support the client in understanding the test results and their implications for the project's success.

• Have more than 5 years experience testing various software solutions.
• Have more than 5 years of experience writing test cases, capturing test results and providing status reports.
• Experience in analyzing requirements and providing test effort estimates
• Must be Bilingual (English & French)
• Must currently hold a valid Secret Security Clearance in Canada.
• Have a college diploma or university degree in an IT discipline.
• Must have previous experience working within the Public Sector/ Federal Government.

• Preferred experience in testing integrated systems.
• Preferred experience testing UKG/Dimensions, Unit4 etc. scheduling and time management.
