Catholic Charities welcomes and resettles refugees in Arizona from all parts of the world.  As a national leader in refugee resettlement, our team is growing and looking for new team members to work together to provide a welcoming and supportive network to help refugees who are new to our country quickly gaining independence and become a productive member of their community.  

JOB SUMMARY:   Assesses skills and employment needs of assigned clients in order to develop employment opportunities and job placement services.

 

JOB DUTIES: 

  1. Assess the skills and employment needs of assigned clients, developing an employment plan for each client.
  2. Actively develops employment opportunities by surveying local employers, providing potential employers with orientation regarding employment of clients. 
  3. Work directly with our clients to obtain and maintain community employment by providing individual and group skill development and training, such as resume writing, interview skills, job search skills, problem solving, public transportation training and personal finances management skills.   
  4. Interact and follow up with various referral sources, prepare and maintain accurate and timely documentation, progress notes and closely monitor caseloads.
  1. Attend local job fairs, chamber meetings, church and other pertinent meetings and events.   Provides job placement services, assisting clients in the completion of applications, preparation for interviews and assistance with keeping appointments. Assists clients to become knowledgeable regarding job duties, company offered benefits, rates of pay and employment policies/practices.  
  2. Maintains all case documents, ensuring file is up to date and accurate. Runs reports and statistics as needed or requested. Processes billing and other financial requirements as scheduled or assigned.  
  3. Provides follow up services with employed client at thirty (30) day intervals; updates records (i.e., pay raises, benefits); maintains regular contact with employers to determine client’s performance and understanding of the position and provide additional retention services as needed.  
  4. Promote ongoing commitment to excellence and continual quality improvement to ensure the highest quality of services to our staff and clients.   
  5. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Education /Background:  Minimum of a High School diploma (or equivalent) plus two (2) or more years of experience in job development/placement field.   Bachelor’s degree in Social Work plus one year of experience in job development preferred.
  2. Job KnowledgeMust have good oral and written communication skills, must be able to relate to and coordinate with both employers and clients and must have knowledge of employment practices. Must be sensitive to cultural differences within the agency and community. Fluent in Microsoft Office Applications (Word & Outlook).
  3. Working Conditions/Physical Demands:  Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with moderate interruptions. Must be able to stoop, bend, squat, sit on floor and ambulate over uneven floor surfaces including stairs and steps. Must be able to visually and auditory assess and interact with clients to ensure their safety and wellbeing. May lift up to 25 pounds. Driving required.  
  4. Other requirements: 
    1. Valid AZ driver’s license, reliable transportation and ability to show proof of registration/insurance.
    2. You must be 21 years of age or older to drive on behalf of Catholic Charities.
    3. Level One Fingerprint clearance or ability to obtain fingerprint clearance; must maintain clearance. 
    4. Must have or complete within 90 days of hire, training in CPR and First Aid and remain current in the certification.

Hourly rate starting at $18.36 and may increase depending on experience.  

This is a client facing position, working with newly arrived refugees.  Services will be delivered with  priority being client needs,  meaning that team member will be required to be in office on a regular basis, as well as working in the field conducting home visits and working with employers on-site. Team member may work from home occasionally with supervisor approval. 90% of time will be in office or the field.
