MAJOR RESPONSIBILTIES
Serves as AARI liaison between independent scientists, support staff and collaborators and AARI central administration offices (SPA, SPS, RBS, etc.). Key coordination activities include facilitating communication between investigators, sponsored programs and research business services, and other collaborating departments, as appropriate. Communicates and collaborates with stakeholders to facilitate smooth transition between phases throughout the full project life cycle.
Pre-award activities include providing guidance and support to researchers with applications by drafting and editing documents such as Letters of Intent; reviewing Requests for Applications and providing researcher with checklist of necessary action items for application package, reviewing, and editing proposals for adherence to sponsor guidelines with regards to administrative requirements.
Advises, plans, and carries out financial aspects of proposal preparation including budgeting with serving as liaison between PI and OSR
Seeks funding opportunities for independent investigators
Handles straightforward post-award activities in collaboration with Research Business Services including, regulatory and compliance follow up, salary allocations review, effort reporting review, grant projections, cost allocations, invoice preparation, grant closing process, and account close-out. Provides professional support for account owners, primarily independent researchers, in an intensive customer service environment.
Prepares summaries of grants and effort allocations for Principal Investigators, meets with them and Research Business Services, and responds to their questions.
Carries out transactions on gift and endowment accounts, departmental operating accounts, industry supported projects, and unrestricted research accounts as assigned.
Works closely with the Research Liaison in development, coordination, and implementation of studies that promote and enhance research collaboration with individuals/groups internal and external to the organization.
Helps support developing reports and metrics on AARI activities, as needed.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
License/Registration/Certification Required: None Required.
Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or related field.
Experience Required: Requires 3 years of experience within research-intensive environments and supporting highly productive and motivated research faculty and staff, in an academic medical center, university or not-for-profit corporation in the healthcare sector. Advanced knowledge of office software including word processing, database, and internet applications.
KNOLWEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Knowledge of Federal Circulars applicable to universities (OMB A-21, A-110, A-133 or the Uniform Guidance) or interpretation of similar regulations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of and ability to interpret institutional, federal, and non-federal grants and contract guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Working knowledge of Workday, PeopleSoft, and/or Lawson Grants Management
Advanced knowledge of office software including word processing database, and applications
Knowledge of medical terminology.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
This position requires travel throughout the city and state and may therefore result in exposure to weather and road conditions.
Exposed to normal office environment.
Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
