About the Role

Fivetran is building data pipelines to power the modern data stack for thousands of companies.

We’re looking for a Senior Designer at Fivetran where you will play a pivotal role in shaping the design strategy, delivering exceptional design work, and leading the design process within cross-functional teams. You will be responsible for aligning design initiatives with the company’s broader business objectives, advocating for design’s value at all levels, and consistently pushing for innovation and excellence in design execution. This role will require close collaboration with stakeholders across marketing, product, and leadership teams, ensuring alignment, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of both customer needs and business goals.

This is a full-time position based out of our Denver or Oakland offices or remotely in the US.

What You'll Do

  • Consistently drive alignment between teams and stakeholders, ensuring clarity on project goals and actionable next steps.
  • Advocate effectively for your design perspective at all levels, leveraging data, storytelling, and persuasive visual design to bring stakeholders on board.
  • Manage conflicts and smooth over challenging projects while pushing for team alignment and maintaining project momentum.
  • Articulate design thinking and decisions clearly, in both written and spoken formats, to make complex trade-offs easily understandable for non-designers.
  • Navigate and resolve conflicts between user needs and business goals, driving design solutions that balance both perspectives.
  • Help teams understand why they are designing a particular product or feature, for whom, and what the key user needs are in complex product moments.
  • Regularly advocate for what matters most to the user, ensuring their needs are a top priority in every design decision.
  • Proactively seek new insights and customer feedback, continuously refining your understanding of user needs to inform design decisions.
  • Actively contribute to and own design strategy and roadmaps for your focus area, ensuring alignment with broader business goals.
  • Consistently reference and align your work with the company's overarching vision, demonstrating a deep understanding of how your designs contribute to business success.
  • Define, measure, and exceed success metrics for design projects, contributing to team outcomes and overall business objectives.
  • Act as a key player in roadmap discussions, bringing forward design insights that influence long-term strategic planning.
  • Lead the charge in design innovation, continually identifying opportunities to optimize design processes and drive improvements across the team.
  • Consistently deliver projects on time, exceeding expectations with high-quality design execution.
  • Translate complex design concepts into actionable plans and guide your team in achieving these goals.
  • Inspire and motivate the design team by setting a clear vision, leading by example, and supporting team members in their goals.
  • Take ownership of the team's success, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and pushing the boundaries of what design can accomplish at Fivetran.
  • Play a leadership role in aligning marketing and design efforts, ensuring cohesive visual identities and strategies across multiple touchpoints.
  • Advocate for the importance of design within the organization, helping to shape and promote Fivetran’s design culture.
  • Produce exceptional design work that combines creativity with strategic thinking, driving innovation and consistently delivering high-impact results.
  • Guide design teams in the development of cohesive and innovative solutions that align with business goals and objectives.

Skills We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience in design, with a strong portfolio showcasing strategic thinking and high-quality design execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead design projects from concept to completion, with a track record of delivering results on time and exceeding expectations.
  • Expertise in user-centered design, with the ability to balance customer needs with business objectives in complex product moments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to align cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in contributing to and influencing strategic roadmaps within a design or product organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate challenges and push for innovation.
  • Passion for design culture and a desire to inspire and mentor team members.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience in both product and marketing design.
  • Familiarity with design systems and scalable design processes.
  • Ability to lead workshops and collaborative design sessions.
  • Strong understanding of data integration is a plus.

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the target position and level. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Our job titles may span more than one career level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, business need, market demands. This range represents base salary only and does not include incentive for sales roles, equity, or  benefits, if applicable.
