Job description

How You Will Help

As a Software Engineer III on the Data Licensing Engineering Team at HealthVerity, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining the software that powers our data licensing business. You will be involved in the full software development lifecycle, from ideation to deployment, working on everything from web UIs to microservice APIs and data pipelines. Your work will enable HealthVerity to seamlessly facilitate data discovery, insights, and delivery, while upholding our commitment to data transparency, security, and privacy best practices.

What You Will Do
  • Develop and maintain full-stack software, including web UIs, APIs, and data pipelines, that supports data licensing, discovery, and delivery.
  • Design and implement services that ensure efficient, secure, and transparent data processing and delivery.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand user needs and translate them into robust software solutions that facilitate insights and data exploration.
  • Participate in code reviews, paired programming, and other activities that foster a collaborative and high-performing engineering culture.
  • Contribute to improving software development processes, leveraging agile methodologies to ensure high-quality and timely delivery.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, helping to build a strong, collaborative, and learning-focused team environment.

  • Python, React, AWS CDK, Databricks (Spark), and AWS cloud-native technologies with a focus on serverless architectures.

Required Skills and Experience
  • 7+ years of software development experience
  • 5+ years of experience with Python
  • 3+ years of experience with AWS services
  • 3+ years of experience with JavaScript or modern frameworks (React.js preferred)
  • Experience with CI/CD technologies
  • Experience with serverless architectures

Desired Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in a fast-paced, startup-like environment
  • Familiarity with regulated industries like healthcare or finance
  • Experience with application architecture, microservices, event-driven architectures, messaging systems, and domain-driven design
  • Experience working with Lean/Agile development methodologies
  • 3+ years of experience with Databricks (Spark) or similar technologies

Base salary for the role is commensurate with experience and can range between $70,000 - 220,000 + annual bonus opportunity.

 
 
Hiring Locations

We prioritize hiring team members from the Philadelphia area whenever possible, as our main office is located in Center City, Philadelphia, where we operate on a hybrid model with in-office work required two days a week. However, for certain roles, we’re also open to hiring from our hub locations, where we have groups of remote workers. Please note that, due to tax and labor regulations, we can only hire from specific states, but remote work is supported in the following key hubs and approved states:
