ROLE OVERVIEW:

Your role as the Obesity Medical Education Associate (MEA) Leader will be divided 50% as the manager of the team and 50% performing the MEA role. You will be a therapeutically aligned clinical expert, excited to be utilizing your experience to deliver best in class disease state and therapy related medical education while playing a key role within the Obesity Organization.

As the MEA lead you will provide leadership, direction and coaching to MEA’s along with responsibility for the strategic execution of best-in-class medical education delivered to Health Care Professionals. This will involve close collaboration and direct liaison with the Medical and Commercial teams at Lilly.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Customer Support and Experience

  • Develop and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and relevant professional societies
  • Deliver best in class medical education on both disease state and pharmacological interventions

Effective People Management and Development

  • Supervise your team, including administration of performance management and individual development plans
  • Coaching your team through frequent interactions and coaching in the field settings and other contexts
  • Recruit for MEA positions as appropriate

Maximise MEA Operational Effectiveness

  • Review activity reports/dashboards to monitor and maximise appropriate performance metrics.
  • Contribute to the coordination of activities and engagement with therapy related Key Opinion Leaders and relevant professional societies

Design and Implement Strategic Initiatives to Optimise Team Performance

  • Create and execute strategic plans to maximise MEA team’s performance in delivering best in class local education to HCPs through a variety of channels and tactics
  • Contribute clinical, scientific and strategic input to support the cross functional team in development of affiliate level medical and brand plans
  • Contribute to the development of educational materials.
  • Effectively communicate and transfer knowledge of the disease state and clinical insights with the medical and brand teams

Scientific and Technical Expertise

  • Maintain the functional expertise necessary to appropriately lead the MEA team, monitor performance individually and coach individuals. This includes deep knowledge of appropriate external regulations and internal standards and procedures
  • Develop the level of scientific expertise necessary to effectively engage with internal partners and appropriately supervise the MEA team

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Advanced degree (Phd, MD, PharmD, etc) in health sciences plus few years of relevant clinical or therapeutic experience in Obesity. You must be a registered dietitian at Band 6 or above/G grade or above if working within the NHS, and you must be registered with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). If you are a nurse, you must currently be registered with the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) and have obesity clinical nursing experience, ideally as a specialist. If you are a pharmacist, you must be currently registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPC) and have obesity clinical experience.  

OR

  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree (RN, PA, NP, etc) in health sciences considered with few years of relevant scientific industry experience

  • Deep clinical knowledge of obesity pathophysiology and treatment landscape. Clinical experience managing people living with obesity within NHS specialist services or private weight management services is highly desirable.  
  • Experience in delivering quality obesity education 
  • Experience in using data to make impactful strategic decisions  
  • Strong leadership, management, interpersonal, problem-solving, motivational, project management and coaching skills
  • Working knowledge of compliance issues and regulatory requirements

OTHER INFORMATION / ADDITIONAL PREFERENCES:

  • Experience in coaching and developing scientific / technical personnel
  • Expertise in field-based environment
  • This is a field based role. On average, 50% of the time should focus on coaching interactions with the team which covers UK and RoI and 50% of your time should focus on delivering education.
