Job description

Sprezzatura Management Consulting is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Business Analyst to support the Board’s Office of Appellate Support (OAS) Technical Infrastructure Branch (TIB). The successful candidate will assist in gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements, supporting the refinement of processes, and contributing to the success of the Board’s modernization efforts. This role involves collaboration with stakeholders, requirements validation, and ensuring alignment with program goals. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and a willingness to learn about the legal and claims appeals process are highly desirable.


Key Responsibilities:

Requirements Gathering and Documentation:

  • Stakeholder Engagement and Requirements Gathering: Work with legal stakeholders to gather and understand their requirements, translating them into clear, concise, and actionable business and functional requirements. Contribute to creating user stories and acceptance criteria that align with the Board’s objectives.


  • Requirements Refinement and Validation: Collaborate with stakeholders in meetings to facilitate discussions and refine requirements throughout the development lifecycle. Ensure that business needs are accurately captured, validated, and well-documented to support development efforts.


  • Requirements Documentation and Traceability: Develop and maintain a Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) for each Program Increment to ensure alignment and traceability of requirements.


  • Process Analysis and Improvement: Support the analysis and documentation of existing business processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and optimization in workflows. Collaborate with stakeholders to define and document efficient workflows and propose areas for automation where appropriate.


  • Collaboration with Technical Teams: Work with IT teams and subject matter experts to assess and propose solutions that align with business requirements. Contribute to discussions on system enhancements, optimizations, and integrations to support business objectives.


  • Change Management Support Track and manage changes to requirements, ensuring proper documentation, communication, and traceability of updates. Support the creation of processes for managing requirements changes effectively across the project lifecycle.


  • Quality Assurance Support: Participate in quality assurance activities by reviewing test plans, validating test results, and ensuring requirements are met in delivered solutions. Assist in addressing any gaps or inconsistencies in requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Learning and Professional Development: Build foundational knowledge of BVA processes and applications to support requirements gathering and documentation efforts.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience and 3-4 years serving as a Business Systems Analyst, Legal Operations Analyst, or similar role, preferably within the context of the Board of Veteran Appeals or the Veterans Administration.
  • Strong understanding of business analysis techniques, methodologies, and tools.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and their application to legal requirements analysis.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with legal and technical stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality deliverables.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of veterans' benefits and the appeals process is highly desirable.
