Role Summary/Purpose:
The Cloud Security Architect will be a critical part of Synchrony Information Security organization that enables secured products & services in a Hybrid Cloud environment. The person will advise and lead design, architecture and readiness of applications & capabilities that are secured and comply with Synchrony standards, policies & other applicable industry standards. In this role, this individual will work in Agile approach with the Product/Program owners/Business teams and Information Security leadership to enable security of Synchrony products & services. The role requires a combination of engineering & architecture experience with a keen focus on securing application products & services in cloud environment.

Essential Responsibilities:
Partners with the Information Security Product Owners, Business teams & InfoSec leadership to lead, develop and deliver secured solution architecture & design for business applications in cloud environment.
Act as point of interface with business teams for all things security enabling early engagement with shift left approach.
Identify threats and risks in business applications ecosystem and develop solutions for securing applications in cloud
Leading Security architecture reviews & threat modeling exercises for business applications and lead resolutions to secure applications.
Experience securing cloud environments and applications with demonstrated knowledge of cloud solutions.
Continuously learning about cloud security by education, training, and self-teaching to act as a trusted advisor, and expert within the cloud security domain.
Ability to work in a hybrid environment spanning on-premise & cloud deployments (AWS, GCP, Azure)
Design and implement scalable public cloud security controls across IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and container platforms
Create architecture review documentation and document recommendations for securing the cloud environment or solution.
Collaborate with peer functions on design, analysis, architecture, implementation, security reviews and process enhancements.
Mentor/train our developing security engineers and provide technical direction and project leadership
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications /Requirements:

Experience of designing and implementing cyber security solutions in a large enterprise
Experience working with application architects and good understanding of application architecture patterns (ex: API’s, Microservices, Mobile, front end technologies)
Experience designing secured cloud solutions with a keen focus on IAM, Data Protection, Observability/Visibility and risk analysis
Demonstrable experience with CIEM, CSPM, CASB, CWPP, CNAPP, SIEM, CI/CD Security in cloud environment
Experience of using scripts or other development tools to automate and integrate Cloud services and solutions
Familiarity with common cloud automation, management, and deployment capabilities
Experience with information security frameworks such as ISO27001, NIST, and CIS
Understanding of security threats, qualitative and quantitative risk valuation models, and effective tools, tactics, and techniques for risk reduction
Experience with data communications, security and information systems hardware, software, and design principles, such as VPN, segmentation, WAF, access control, CASB, etc
Experience with encryption technologies and standards, both at-rest and in-flight
A team-focused mentality with proven experience to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
Demonstrated experience communicating complex and technical issues to diverse audiences, verbally and in writing, in an easily understood, and actionable manner
Creativity, enthusiasm, and energy with a strong customer "can do" attitude and result oriented
Hands on, self-motivated professional style with the ability to effectively prioritize multiple initiatives
Desire to work in an open, collaborate, and fast-paced environment
Strong collaborative, analytic and problem-solving skills and ability to manage projects and priorities
Experience influencing people of all roles and levels outside of their reporting structure
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
