The Role:
This is a standalone role working within our marketing team where the Manager will build and develop the communications infrastructure across the Firm. The Manager will ensure that, as we continue to grow, our culture reflects the Firm’s identity and that our remote-first, international teams feel connected as we collaborate towards achieving firmwide objectives. In addition to leading internal communications, the Communications Manager will serve as the primary liaison with our external PR agency and other external partners, driving cohesive messaging and enhancing our brand presence both internally and externally.
Working closely with HR, Operations and wider teams, the Communications Manager will embed and communicate the Firm's people strategy and business change projects. This includes selecting and implementing an effective platform and repository for internal communications and developing strategies to ensure consistent and engaging messaging across all channels. Experience in leading businesses through growth and change projects across multiple jurisdictions, as well as managing relationships with external PR agencies, will be highly beneficial. As a remote working Firm, we work across many jurisdictions, including the US, UK, and Europe – therefore, knowledge and/or experience in scaling businesses internationally is advantageous.
Responsibilities:
- Takes the lead in working with HR to establish a communications strategy for the business change and people strategy initiatives. A core part of this role is to ensure that the remote, international teams feel connected and heighten their collaboration as we continue to experience high growth.
- Owns and manages all internal comms channels and platforms (newsletters, apps, emails, intranet, webinars etc).
- Collaborates with internal teams on firm or global team-wide comms across multiple areas (HR, D&I, IT, accounting etc).
- Works closely with external PR agencies and other external partners to manage and execute external communications, including media relations, press releases, and proactive storytelling initiatives that elevate the Firm's brand presence in the market.
- Supports on key internal events and get-togethers, including comms & planning.
- Understands the overlap between communications and brand. Can visualize and concisely explain communications concepts to wider team members to ensure ideas reflect our brand.
- Designs and rolls out a ‘town-hall’ programme, to provide our global team members with senior leadership updates. The comms manager will be confident in their written and oral presentation skills and will take a lead on MCing these events.
- Proactively seeks to make recommendations to improve ways of working and suggests ideas and process improvements across the team and the firm.
- Acts as the primary point of contact for external communications, ensuring that our external messaging is aligned with our internal narrative and supports the Firm's strategic objectives.
Qualifications and attributes:
- Demonstrable experience of leading strategic communications projects – desirable if these projects were run multi-jurisdictional.
- c.6+ years’ experience working within a communications role with some of this experience gained at Manager level.
- Vendor analysis, selection, and implementation experience around internal communications / intranet platforms.
- Exceptional written, oral, and presentational skills in English. Persuasive and inspiring in their communications style and effectively influences stakeholders at various levels within the Firm.
- Working knowledge of professional services (partnerships) environment would be advantageous, given our organizational structure, however it is more important that the candidate demonstrates their ability to work across different countries, noting cultural and communications nuances.
- Highly adept at prioritizing a busy workload with multiple stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in a diverse, fast-paced, international business.
