Position Overview
Autodesk is looking for a Data Architect that can design the models and system flows that define how data persists and moves between several enterprise systems and be a trusted advisor to solution architects and engineering teams.
Keeping a keen eye on the bigger picture, you will define and maintain high-level conceptual models, logical models, and ensure proper implementation across operational and analytical domains in collaboration with Product & Engineering Managers. You will influence the handling of data across end-to-end flows that traverse various processes and systems to ensure that it arrives fit for purpose and to serve its intended business use cases.
Staying on top of the latest innovations around data principles like data mesh and tools that help orchestrate data pipelines must be a passion of yours. As part of a larger enterprise ecosystem, our engineering teams will look to you for guidance on how to build modern cloud-based, event driven data systems and common data services that scale to meet the needs of our business.
You will be joining a team of architects who is tasked with taking Autodesk through a digital transformation that focuses on a taking existing and new business models to a new modern tech stack. The teams you will engage with are geographically dispersed, and value transparent, collaborative communication and cooperation. At times you will need to flex your schedule to accommodate global time zones.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain data models, conceptual & logical, in partnership with business and systems architects
Collaborate with systems architects and engineering to design data integrations ensuring data accuracy & completeness
Work closely with stakeholders and other architects to adequately understand requirements for collecting, storing and sharing data across the organization
Influence architecture decisions and direction according to business drivers and application of modern technologies and methodologies
Work with product managers to build requirements and guide engineering teams to implement solution based on DataOps principles
Engage with operational and analytical engineering teams to ensure proper translation of logical models into physical models
Review integrations to ensure proper implementation of data contracts based on logical data models
Guide data product managers to build proper analytical models for BI, M/L and personalization use cases
Maintaining a vision and strategy for applying best practices from the industry to improve the quality of data and the way it is consumed
Validate end-to-end data flows as data moves through enterprise systems
Work closely with product management and eng teams to address any defects or gaps resulting in poor data quality
Provide research and business analysis to assist business architects to realize upcoming initiatives
Ensure non-functional requirements such as availability, scalability, reliability, security, compliance, governance are all in place
Minimum Qualifications
10+ years' experience delivering software with a strong focus on data
Experience working with a cross-section of data integrations (APIs, front-end, backend, security, data, service, persistence layers, automated testing, etc.)
Familiar with various methods of Data Modeling, from conceptual to logical to physical
Understanding of various data persistence formats, structured, unstructured, operational & analytical
Domain knowledge of eCommerce, Data Warehousing, Financial, Account CRM, and Financial ERP systems would be a strong plus
Operational/Analytical Master Data Management experience
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrable experience as an architect for a large organization in major software domains
Expertise in information and integration architecture and technologies such as API (REST/SOAP) and Pub/Sub architecture implementations at scale
Experience with AWS (RDS, Redshift, DynamoDB), SQL (SQL Server, PostgreSQL), Snowflake, and ingestion transform tools like Fivetran, DBT
Experience with real-time streaming and AI/ML data pipelines and modeling
Experience serving as architect for applications on cloud infrastructure
Strong leadership, problem solving, communication, and influencing skills
Comfortable working both individually and as part of a highly collaborative team
Experience with Compliance and Data governance (GDPR, SOX, etc.)
Outstanding organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills (verbal/presentation/written)
Ability to facilitate dynamic meetings and discussions
Strong Business Acumen, can express and model the purpose of data in business context
Ability to mentor and guide data engineers

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $159,100 and $257,400. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
