JOB PURPOSE:

The Ice Cream CMI Market Analytics Director will work directly with the CMI VP Ice Cream to create capabilities for predictive analytics as well as leading the Market Insights team for the Ice Cream company.

The individual will be responsible for deploying existing AI and analytics tools to gain insights into the Ice Cream and the Snacking industry, including market trends, marketing strategies, innovation, and overall business performance. This will involve collecting and analyzing data from various sources, including new and unexplored areas where consumers might be found. The role will also focus on creating predictive analytics tools that can help guide the business's future growth, strategic planning, decision-making, and risk mitigation. The role will involve both regular tasks and special projects. The individual will collaborate with internal and external experts to interpret business questions, identify relevant data sources, prepare the data, run analytical models, and present findings in a clear and understandable business format.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own regular insights reports for horizontal integration & delivery of multi-source insights for cross operational excellence & business performance metrics, market and marketing mix and innovation modelling, market evolution and development data integration models and analyses.

  • Build and integrate predictive market moves across growth spaces, channels, brand development and market development levers in local competitive what-if scenarios, to identify and follow through execution of growth opportunities within Ice Cream Category and Snacking.

  • Create be-spoke models to predict short-term 12-24 month category growth in a disruptive market and long term 3-5yr market emergence. Decompose category forecast by channels and predict consumer value movements.

  • Predict short and long-term growth drivers to help optimise media budget allocation across categories, markets within divisions for growth. As well as develop always-on models for optimisation of spend across media, price, promotion, distribution to drive growth.

  • Build new sources of real time consumer & user generated data as needed cross Ps, fully automated to anticipate and generate consumer demand. Monitoring competitors’ activities and market changes, understanding how they will impact the business.

  • Lead growth performance for Ice Cream that includes keeping senior business leaders and custodians on “pulse of business”, provide analytical support to steer key strategic activities evaluate and track our business performance across growth lever. Fully automate reporting driving one version of the truth across the organisation.

  • Co-design and oversee Ice Cream analytics project plan, including data collection & quality, cross-channel data integration, reporting and insights, dashboards, data visualization, data mining, predictive analytics, and design models to feed AI end to end models.

  • Identify improvement opportunities in reporting and BI tools in collaboration with other functions.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

SKILLS:

  • Technical Proficiency: A strong understanding of analytics and AI is crucial. This includes knowledge of statistical methods, machine learning algorithms, and data modelling techniques. Being able to discern good solutions from bad ones.

  • Programming Skills: Good understanding of programming languages that are commonly used for data analysis, building predictive models, and managing databases.

  • Data Management: Skills in data cleaning, data transformation, and data visualization are essential. This includes the ability to work with large datasets and use tools like Excel, Tableau, or Power BI to present data insights effectively.

  • Business and Commercial Acumen: Understanding the business context and being able to translate data insights into actionable business strategies is vital. This involves having a good grasp of the industry and the specific business problems that predictive analytics can solve.

  • Communication Skills: The ability to communicate complex analytical concepts to non-technical stakeholders is important. This includes storytelling skills to present data insights in a compelling and understandable way.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities are key. This involves identifying patterns, making predictions, and providing data-driven recommendations to improve business outcomes.

  • Collaboration: Working effectively with cross-functional teams, including marketing, IT, and customer development and finance.

EXPERIENCES & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • You have a minimum of 15 years’ experience in Insights and Analytics experience.

  • Solid advanced experience in Business Analytics and Optimization, including mathematical programming, simulation, forecasting and statistics.

  • Experience with diverse sources of market and brand performance data (Nielsen, Kantar, Circana, Euromonitor, GlobalData , etc.).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in simple business solution communication among senior leaderships.

  • Creative problem solver who thrives on challenges, speed and simplicity.

  • Insights extractor – one who can wring the meaning and business value more than dwell on the beauty of the modelling.

  • Drives innovative business and consumer solutions, open minded, yet not reinventing the wheel.

  • Ability to balance short and long term priorities and decision making impacts.
