Department Overview
Software Upgrade Operations team is committed to providing Motorola Solutions Public Safety customers the best possible experience while ensuring all upgrade activities are done efficiently and accurately. The team is responsible for planning and executing software upgrades for Vesta and Callworks solutions. The team works closely with CMSO and SI deployment.

Job Description

This UO GIS Field Engineer will be Analytics & GIS-focused. The intern will gain expertise in IT, PBX, and related telecommunications solutions. Responsible for: 

  • Build new customer maps within a proprietary call-handling system using customer-provided shape files. 
  • Configure enhancements to deployed customer maps
  • Working with the team to determine customer-data-related product issues or defects. 
  • Troubleshoot complex product issues.
  • GIS experience related to geo-coding and reverse geo-coding is a plus.
  • Escalation point for complex trouble tickets from Technical Support, troubleshooting various technical issues including front-end GUI, server-side application, GIS, database, and Analytics server.
  • Manages tickets promptly within the Service Now platform.
  • Creates and maintains strong customer relationships.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical issues in business terms.
  • Strong problem-solving/troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to effectively organize tasks, manage multiple priorities, and deliver on customer commitments on schedule.
  • Ability to work with all levels of management, vendors, and other internal and external groups and customers, exhibiting a positive influence at all levels.
  • Characterize and document issues found post-upgrade on customer systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pursuing GIS-related Bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge of Linux
  • Knowledge of XML
  • Knowledge of Windows Server Administration
  • Knowledge of Esri

This position is a remote position and candidates can be located anywhere in the US.
