About the Role:

As the Senior Director of Electrical Engineering, you will lead the PV & BESS, Power Studies, and Substation departments, steering them toward operational excellence and future growth. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring high standards across all projects while fostering strong client relationships and a thriving team culture.

What you’ll do:

  • Oversee daily operations of the PV & BESS, Power Studies, and Substation departments, ensuring timely, on-budget project execution while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Balance team workloads, set clear objectives, and adjust strategies to meet evolving project demands and company goals.
  • Ensure all projects meet industry standards and internal quality benchmarks, while enforcing strict safety protocols.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain engineering best practices and standards to ensure consistency and excellence across all deliverables.
  • Anticipate and manage potential project risks by implementing proactive risk management strategies to mitigate issues and delays.
  • Lead the development of innovative engineering solutions, particularly within the renewable energy sector, to keep EVS at the forefront of industry advancements.
  • Guide teams through complex technical challenges while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
  • Drive financial performance by meeting revenue and profitability targets, managing departmental budgets, and overseeing resource allocation.
  • Ensure project teams meet or exceed utilization targets, maximizing productivity and contributing to overall company profitability.
  • Build and nurture strong, lasting client relationships, delivering high-quality solutions tailored to client needs and exceeding expectations.
  • Monitor client satisfaction and proactively address concerns, ensuring positive client experiences and high retention rates.
  • Identify opportunities to grow relationships with existing clients, while exploring new business development opportunities to expand the company’s reach.
  • Lead recruitment efforts to attract top talent, fostering a high-performing team that thrives on collaboration and innovation.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to team members, guiding them in their career growth and fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

What you bring to the Role:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on PV, BESS, Power Studies, and/or Substation projects.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing teams of 10+ people.
  • Proven track record of success in a leadership role within consulting, engineering, or renewable energy sectors.
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong communication abilities, with a focus on team development and maintaining high client satisfaction.
  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to drive departmental growth and profitability.
  • Experience in optimizing processes, improving efficiency, and meeting or exceeding performance goals.

Travel & Location:

  • Minnesota-based candidates are preferred, but remote candidates are welcome to apply.
  • You must be able to travel to our Eden Prairie, MN office once a month for 2-3 days, as well as attend client meetings and industry events 6-9 times per year.
