Job Summary: The HYBRID Claims Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for all Workers Comp, General Liability, Auto, and Property claims within the company. Responsible for managing claims from initiation to resolution, ensuring timely and accurate processing while maintaining excellent communication with injured associates, guests, and relevant locations. This role requires a keen attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to navigate complex insurance policies and procedures. The Claims Specialist will be required to report to work at a Mattress Firm operated located (BedQuarters, Warehouse or store) nearest their residence 1-2 times each week in this hybrid position. 

 
Essential Responsibilities 

  • Receive and review all incoming claims related to Workers Comp, General Liability, Auto, and Property. 

  • Efficiently manage claims from opening through to closure while maintaining a high level of service to our associates. 

  • Provide guidance and service activities including identifying the need, resourcing the solution, and communicating the resolution to assure internal customer satisfaction for leadership and associates throughout the organization. 

  • Determine coverage eligibility and assess the extent of liability. 

  • Document claim activities, decisions, and correspondence accurately and comprehensively. 

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Company policies throughout the claims process. 

  • Ensures follow up on hazards reported in claims to ensure a safe work environment and limitation of risk. 

  • Work closely with leadership to ensure OSHA 300 logs are completed timely and accurately. 

  • Create reporting to show results, progress, deficits, and analytics relating to all casualty claims. 

  • Work with internal teams to identify areas for improving compliance and efficiencies in casualty claim processes. 

  • Complete all required training modules and certifications prior to the due date. 

  • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed to ensure a safe work environment for all 

  • Communicate professionally with all internal and external contacts. 

  • Follow all Company policies and execute Company standards on appearance and functionality as well as appropriate brand representation. 

  • Communicates any concerns or issues to leadership to ensure proper efficiency of department and company operations. 

 

Non-Essential Responsibilities 

  • Investigate, evaluate, and negotiated assigned material/physical damage claims in accordance with applicable laws and company guidelines. 

  • Lead/Participate in periodic claim reviews with internal and external partners. 

  • Assist with special projects or initiatives related to claims management as needed. 

  • Ensure professional knowledge is kept up to date with ongoing training and research. 

  • Execute Company initiatives and other activities requested by supervisor. 

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities. 

  • Contributes ideas on ways to optimize or improve the team, the department, and the Company. 

 

Education 

  • High School diploma or equivalent required 

  • Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Insurance, Risk Management, or related field preferred 

 

Professional Experience 

  • 2+ Years Claims management required 

  • 2+ Years Claims investigation, evaluation, and negotiation required
