Overview:
As the Project Controller for Hexagon’s MinRes project, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity, cost efficiency, and profitability of this high-profile project. Working closely with the project management team, finance stakeholders, and cross-functional partners, you’ll oversee financial planning, analysis, and control processes to keep the MinRes project on track financially. Your expertise will be essential in translating project milestones into financial metrics, tracking expenditures against forecasts, and providing insights that drive informed decision-making.
Location: Hexagon is a global company with offices around the world. This remote position is preferably based in Australia, but will consider remote work for the right candidate based in the United States or Canada.
Responsibilities:
As Project Controller, responsibilities include:
Financial Planning & Budgeting
- Develop and manage the financial blueprint for the MinRes project, establishing accurate budgets, forecasts, and cost baselines.
- Collaborate with the project management team to anticipate and document financial requirements at each project phase, ensuring all stakeholders have a clear understanding of financial commitments and cost expectations.
- Monitor expenditures in real-time, ensuring adherence to budget limits and identifying opportunities to optimize costs specific to the MinRes project’s needs.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly reviews of the project’s financial health, adjusting forecasts and identifying budget reallocation needs in consultation with project leads
- Track and report on the MinRes project’s percentage of completion to accurately reflect project progress, ensuring alignment with accounting standards and timely revenue recognition. Collaborate closely with the Program Manager to synchronize billing cycles, ensuring invoicing accuracy and alignment with project milestones.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Generate precise, timely financial reports focused on the MinRes project, including cash flow projections, cost-to-complete analysis, and project margin tracking.
- Work with the Program Manager to manage revenue recognition schedules, aligning billing practices with project progress to optimize cash flow. Ensure that financial documentation and reports accurately reflect earned revenue, project expenditures, and remaining budgets.
- Provide detailed variance analysis, explaining deviations from budget and forecast expectations to help the project team course-correct where necessary.
- Prepare presentation materials on the MinRes project’s financial performance for senior leadership and project review meetings, translating complex data into actionable insights.
- Maintain the financial risk register to adapt costs and margin as needed
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Act as a key financial advisor to the MinRes project management team, offering guidance on budget adherence, risk mitigation, and cost control strategies specific to MinRes.
- Work closely with finance partners, project leads, and other functional teams to ensure consistent alignment on financial goals, reporting accuracy, and milestone achievement for the MinRes project.
- Facilitate open communication with internal stakeholders to keep everyone informed of financial progress, changes, and key decisions.
Governance
- Identify financial risks unique to the MinRes project, developing mitigation strategies that allow for proactive responses to potential issues.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, financial regulations, and project-specific controls, aligning with Hexagon’s standards for financial integrity and transparency.
- Coordinate with external auditors as needed to provide MinRes project-specific financial documentation, ensuring all regulatory standards are met.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement best practices for project financial control within the MinRes project, striving to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of financial management processes.
- Lead initiatives to streamline the MinRes project’s financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes, ensuring they align with Hexagon’s data and technology frameworks.
- Apply Lean principles to minimize inefficiencies within MinRes project financial operations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
Must-Have
- Strong command of financial analysis and project-specific financial tools, with experience in ERP systems and financial reporting software.
- Advanced Excel skills for complex financial modeling, budget tracking, and data analysis, tailored to the unique aspects of the MinRes project.
- Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies to support project-specific cost control.

Compensation & Benefits
Hexagon’s Autonomous Solutions division provides the following compensation range and a general description of other compensation and benefits. This compensation range is based on a full-time schedule. The Company reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range or offer other compensation depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state or federal law. Our benefits and bonus plans are reviewed annually and are subject to change at the company’s discretion.
Hiring Salary Range: $135,000 AUD - $155,000 AUD per annum. This salary range is subject to where the successful candidate is based.
Bonus Eligibility: We offer a company profit share and individual incentive-based bonus programs.
