We are now looking a Service Engineer Mechanic to join our Mechanic Field Services Resources team, in order to improve its after-sales assistance staff and out complex field service activities related to Wartsila’s products, including their commissioning, trial tests, adjustments, repair and maintenance.
The location for this position is Taranto, Italy. In this position, when you are not working in the field, remote working is an option too.
Your role and responsibilities
As a Service Engineer, Mechanic your work will include the performance of advanced troubleshooting on site to isolate and find the root causes of failures in mechanical equipment related to Wartsila’s products; the inspection of the work done to ensure that the repairs have been finalized correctly; the preparation of technical and travel reports. Most of the time you will be operating in the Field, being in direct relation with the clients.
As Service Engineer, Mechanic, your work will focus on these responsibilities:
- Execute planned maintenances on board and repairing jobs on Wärtsilä OEM engines and its auxiliaries
- Overhaul engine components at site/on board
- Carry out engine product trouble shooting, routine maintenance & components investigation
- Perform commissioning of Wärtsilä equipment
- Carry out engine product troubleshooting, routine maintenance & components investigation
- Prepare service work reports and travel expense reports on time and with expected Wärtsilä quality
- Working by following the Company guidelines including QEHS requirements
Requirements for the position
- Good knowledge of English and Italian
- Ability to read technical drawings
- Knowledge of mechanical principles, especially related to marine engines
- Communication skills & customer relations
- Strong motivation to learn and grow professionally
- Ability to follow directions
- Cultural knowledge and bridging the gaps between different cultures
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Collaborative team player
- Motivation to travel to our customers for at least 80% per year and abroad if required.
As an ideal candidate you might also have…
- Technical high school diploma in mechanics and/or BS degree in marine engineering or mechanical engineering.
- Previous experiences in similar roles
- Sailing while working in vessel’s engine-rooms.
