Position Description:
Performs a variety of financial/accounting assignments necessary to produce daily and monthly financial reports, including reconciliation and monitoring of assigned general ledger accounts for Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) and its affiliated entities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares daily cash forecast schedules to be reported to senior leadership.
- Reconciles monthly grant activities and prepares necessary corrections to ensure proper month-end close and compliance with all GAAP, Federal OMB, and grant standards and guidelines.
- Responsible for accounting transactions including journal entries, record keeping and preparation of monthly and quarterly expenditure reports and drawdown requests for multiple federal and corporate grants.
- Integrates, reconciles, and posts all daily sales and deposits from point of sale system to the general ledger accounting system for 90+ locations.
- Reviews and researches over/short accounts for retail stores and works with Retail Management Teams and Asset Protection to resolve issues.
- Works in collaboration with retail stores/management to resolve cash deposit discrepancies.
- Checks and verifies bank transactions; investigates and proposes possible resolution for any discrepancies.
- Analyzes and reconciles all retail credit card transactions and researches discrepancies with merchant card processing company.
- Performs setup of internal systems and coordination of external system set-ups to accommodate new retail locations.
- Reconciles all cash accounts daily and prepares daily cash flow reports.
- Collaborates with other departments and divisions to support the organization and its mission.
- Manages, evaluates and recommends changes to banking relationships including bank fees.
- Works effectively with cross functional teams to ensure professional collaboration.
- Handles escalated issues and functions as team lead in the absence of Management.
- Responsible for the preparation of month-end journal entries in the general ledger.
- Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
- Processes and researches chargebacks for retail store disputed transactions.
- Responsible for seeking opportunities for efficiencies and automation in assigned tasks.
- Assists in the preparation of audit schedules and supports external auditors.
- Prepares and analyzes reports as requested by leadership.
- Assists with the training and mentoring of Finance Team Members.
- Reviews work of Finance Team Members for accuracy.
- Maintains regular and consistent in-person attendance.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Accounting, or Finance.
- 5+ years of experience in finance and accounting.
- Must have prior experience with daily bank reconciliations, preferably with background in a retail environment, grant accounting and billing.
- Preferred prior experience with cash flow forecasting, treasury and banking activities, mergers and acquisitions.
- Must be well versed in using an integrated accounting system (Workday preferred).
- Must be knowledgeable regarding generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and related internal controls.
- Proven ability to be analytical and handle large volume of data effectively, accurately, and timely.
- Must have advanced skills in Excel and be able to manipulate large amounts of data and banking transactions.
- Strong attention to detail and well organized.
- Strong professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to speak and read English proficiently.
- Ability to independently solve problems and escalate as appropriate. Ability to juggle multiple tasks while still delivering high quality results in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess the maturity to handle sensitive, confidential information.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable for position.
