What You Will Do:

Our professionals help our clients in the Federal Chief Financial Officer community transform business processes, enhance the efficiency of operations, improve transparency and performance management, promote change management, and comply with Federal laws and regulations. We empower our clients to identify, evaluate, and solve some of their most complex challenges, and assist them in achieving their strategic goals and objectives to fulfill their mission. The nature of our projects is extremely fluid and requires self-motivated individuals who are willing to develop solutions on their own or in a team of highly skilled professionals. Project members are provided the opportunity to interact with our client’s senior management, as well as the opportunity to enhance their skills around technical competency, business development, client service, and people development. Our team provides specialized experience and knowledge in financial management, process analysis and documentation, data analytics, and automation to support project activities.

This role will support clients within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with opportunities to expand support to other defense and security-related organizations. Specific initiatives and work products that this role supports include:

  • Drive process reengineering efforts and development of low code applications using technology such as the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate & SharePoint). This support includes initial scoping and design efforts, agile development, and implementation of effective and operational solutions across the organization.

  • Maintain frequent engagement with management and executive-level clients throughout all phases of the overall project and development efforts, including working-level meetings and executive-level briefings to iteratively present progress for review and feedback.

  • Assess existing business processes and procedures to identify pain points and areas for improvement. This includes coordination with process stakeholders to complete current-state assessments, review of relevant documentation to gain a thorough understanding, and evaluation and recommendation of technology platform(s) to build a future-state solution.

  • Assist in creation of project plans to support the execution of end-to-end development efforts and ensure that realistic timelines are set, communicated, and followed through barring any significant holdups.

  • Communicate project task updates to senior-level executive clients on a regular basis and confirm shared understanding.

  • Utilize best practices when developing and implementing solutions which includes documenting and communicating any identified risks to internal team and process stakeholders and coordinating solutions for addressing the identified risks.

  • Develop documentation and training material for technical solutions that are provided to process stakeholders as part of implementation and provide training and general guidance on an ad-hoc basis after the release of any technical solutions.

  • Coordinate with other direct team members and/or build necessary skills to develop metrics and supporting dashboards utilizing data visualization software (i.e., Tableau, Power BI, etc.).

  • Collaborate with Guidehouse personnel, supporting related workstreams, to recommend solutions, identify best practices, and improve knowledge-sharing across Government Agencies.

What You Will Need:

  • Ability to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD Public Trust

  • Bachelor of Science or Arts Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Information Systems, or applicable related field.

  • 1 year of consulting experience

  • Desire and ability to quickly learn low-code and no-code technology platforms, including Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, ServiceNow, Power BI, and Tableau, to apply and tailor to the specific needs of the client and the mission of their organization.

  • Heightened attention to detail when developing technical solutions and any other communications or deliverables that are distributed to clients.

  • Ability to synthesize information quickly and learn new skills, view problems, apply a variety of analytical solutions, and lead client-facing discussions and meetings.

  • Ability to work in teams to produce high-impact work products, reports, and other deliverables in a fast-paced environment.

  • Willingness to utilize project management best practices within an organization to produce high quality deliverables in a timely manner.

  • Ability to commute to client or corporate offices within the Washington, DC metropolitan area 2-3 days per week.

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Understanding and demonstrated willingness to learn Agile project delivery methods, tools, and concepts.

  • General understanding of financial management aspects (i.e., financial operations, financial innovation, internal control, risk management, etc.), particularly in a federal environment.

  • Professional certification (CPA, CGFM, CDFM, Power Platform credential, etc.).

  • Experience with:

    • Planning and leading client meetings and presenting recommendations.

    • Producing a variety of communications from informal email interactions with clients to formal strategic planning documents, user guides, issue papers, presentations, executive briefings, and others.
