Where You Will Work
Freeport-McMoRan is a leading international metals company with global headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support our operations in accounting and finance, human resources, health and safety, information technology, planning, engineering, and more. Our virtual internship program allows interns to work virtually as well as come together in person when needed at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix and/or one of our site locations. Interns can work remotely from most states in the U.S., with the exception of California, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma and South Carolina. Additional states may be excluded from virtual work based on business factors.
Description
Under general supervision, performs MIS related duties assigned per department. As such responsibilities are carried out; unscheduled and scheduled overtime may be required. Also may be required to work outside of normal working hours.
Below are samples of summer projects that interns will be assigned:
Business Analyst Tasks Include:
- Meet with business to evaluate their business and technical needs, define scope and document business requirements
- Research internal and external solutions
- Conduct user acceptance testing and document findings
- Create end-user and training documentation
Security Analyst Tasks Include:
- Document and maintain perimeter risk assessment
- Document and maintain network device hardening process
- Create and conduct security awareness training
- Manage security vulnerability management assessment
Business Intelligence Analyst Tasks Include:
- Analyze and document business requirements
- Write queries and perform data analysis
- Design and develop, enhance or fix reports and dashboards
- Work with users to adopt solutions
Custom Development Analyst Tasks Include:
- Understands SOA design patterns, specifically with micro-services
- Experience writing .NET code; C# specifically, JavaScript and SQL
- An interest in UX/UI design
- Understands cloud platforms
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Full-time student currently enrolled at an accredited four-year university majoring in an appropriate MIS or Computer Technology discipline or closely related field; OR
- Recent college graduate having graduated within 12 months prior to internship start date with a degree in MIS, or Computer Technology or closely related field
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Possesses strong data analysis and problem solving skills
- Highly accurate and detail oriented
- Possesses strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrates initiative, organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure
- Demonstrates ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment
- Must be able to demonstrate our core values of honesty, fairness, respect, trust, and integrity
Preferred
- Exposed to: SharePoint document management, MS Project and data analytics
Criteria/Conditions
- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
- Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
- Must be able to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet time-sensitive deadlines
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
- Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/ alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable state laws
Compensation:
The estimated pay range for this role is currently $22.25 - 28.00/hour. Individual pay rates will be based on level of education and relevant experience.

Freeport-McMoRan has reviewed the jobs at its various office and operating sites and determined that many of these jobs require employees to perform essential job functions that pose a direct threat to the safety or health of the employees performing these tasks or others.
