Job description

Overview:

St. Luke’s Healthcare System in Boise, Idaho is recruiting a Ph.D or Psy.D licensed psychologist to work on inpatient rehabilitation units at St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Hospital with additional opportunity to provide outpatient services.

Preferred experience but not required:

  • Medical inpatient and/or inpatient rehabilitation settings
  • Provide rehab psychology services, including: behavioral/personality assessments, cognitive screenings, and psychotherapy to patients with diverse central nervous system diagnoses, including traumatic and non-traumatic brain and spinal cord injury, stroke, neurodegenerative disorders as well as other medically complex conditions.
  • The acuteness of injury on the inpatient floor frequently warrants assessment of decision-making capacity and disposition recommendations, which are required skills of an eligible applicant.
  • As a member of an integrated, interdisciplinary team, this psychologist will provide timely consultations and collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, social workers and physical, occupational, and speech therapists to develop and implement a plan of care for patients with a variety of acute and chronic medical and psychiatric conditions.
  • The ability to work independently is essential; dependability and some scheduling flexibility required.

Duties include:

  • Provision of psychological and neuropsychological assessments and rehabilitative interventions for patients with a variety of neurological deficits, as well as patients with spinal cord injuries, amputation and related conditions, and pain.
  • Providing consultation and leadership to the rehabilitation team for behavior management.
  • Providing psychoeducation to patients and families regarding injury prognosis and psychological implications.
  • Developing psychology services (program development) to support our CARF accredited programs.
  • Opportunity to provide outpatient neuropsychological evaluations and outpatient psychotherapy interventions depending on experience/interest.
  • Potential to provide services on medical inpatient floors depending on experience/interest.

The successful applicant will have a doctorate degree in clinical/counseling psychology, have completed an APA-accredited clinical psychology internship, have postdoctoral training and/or relevant experience in rehabilitation psychology and/or neuropsychology, and be licensed or license-eligible in Idaho. Board certified or eligible for board certification in rehabilitation or clinical neuropsychology.

We currently have five outpatient neuropsychologists, two inpatient/outpatient rehabilitation focused neuropsychologists, and four masters-level psychometrists in our busy and growing department. Services to be provided Mon-Fri with no call responsibility. Candidates with bilingual English/Spanish-speaking skills and/or experience with functional neurological disorders a plus.
